Biennale wed night

The great Pryor Praczukowski is working on his display. Imagine, we've worked with Pryor since way back. GR1 probably. He's always been around to help. I've actually known him since I was probably 18 or so, and it's great to have him really show his work in a proper setting. His photos look brilliant on a huge space. In the background, I see some red... is that Eishi?

Don't forget you don't have to RSVP to come. You can, but you don't have to. Just show up and we'll see you there.

Looking good.

A little Youtube never hurt anyone. Music by Explosions in the Sky that we were playing in the background. Here's the link.

Taking a break. That's night owl Michelle Borok.

cranes, museums, and rock

Big accident on the 405, it must have been bad, and the guy driving was "charred" according to the news reports. Getting past it took well over an hour and a half. The truck had a huge crane in the back, and somehow that crane fell off and actually went onto the southbound traffic. It was bad. The cab of the truck was just black. Condolences to his family. It's weird how my arm is in the reflection in the photo.

Baseman! One neat thing about the museum is that art is taken super serious. Compared to how we handle work, which I think isn't bad at all, they are really strict. Gloves are important! I'm sure MOCA or LACMA would be even more strict.

Eishi Takaoka is in the house. He enjoys standing next to dumpsters.

Saelee, Clement, and Eishi loading in a serious industrial elevator. Museums are pretty neat. Behind the nice clean walls of the galleries is some crazy offices, and funny people.

Whoa, what's this? It's Thurston Moore at Echoplex wearing a Halloween costume. The Echoplex is close to the museum actually.

Even without his Sonic Youth band, his solo act rocks. I especially liked it when he got rid of the acoustic guitar and went electric. Thurston Moore is one of my guitar heroes. Not the game, but for real.

Saelee Oh gets on the ladder for more late night work.

Souther Salazar's birthday

Look at her smiling face, that's Saelee who worked hard on Souther's birthday party. From what I could tell, she did these things: 1) got a special vegan ice cream flavor from Scoops! Chocolate and Cinnamon. It was great, I had a second serving. 2) rented the serving containers, made rice, beans, peppers, and actually attempted to make handmade tortillas! Didn't quite work, but they live near Echo Park and it's easy to pick up good stuff in the area. 3) Horchata. They had a huge jug in one of those glass beehive looking containers. It was good. 4) Decorations, of course having help for everything, her youngest sister Sarah made a happy birthday sign out of paper bags. 5) Inviting people and making it a poncho party!

Nutter Butters in the ice cream. The mint was nice. That's detail.

Look at Souther's face. Did you know, this was his first birthday party in his life?

That's me and Oh sister #3.

More guests jammed on the sofa. That's Oh sister #2 and my stalker on the right.

That's Oh sister #4 on the left.

Souther got a jacket!

Ponchos!

It was a fun night, and it's less about a birthday party, but more about the work that went into it. Would you go through all this work for someone? I hope so.

Space Tow truck

Here's a Sculpey Kids project I've been working on. I think the thought of the day was to make towers. So I make a tower out of toothpicks... But it wasn't exciting, and I didn't know what I was doing, so it became a green man towing the apparatus wearing a yellow jumpsuit. I don't feel like it's quite done, but it's close enough.
