The Fruit Man’s Obituary

Imagine a guy who grew the rarest species of Asian fruits in Southern California and shared it with people at a farmer’s market. Yes, most of us missed out and or had no idea at what Jerry Dimitman did for a living and hobby. He grew rare fruit trees and let people taste his efforts. Yet although he passed away at 91, it’s really not too late. According to the LA Times, “His son Robert, who lived with him at the original grove, said he intends to continue selling his father’s fruits at the Alhambra farmers market, including his prized pummelos on the Sundays leading up to Chinese New Year on Jan. 23.” (LA Times – Jerry Dimitman)
