13th Century Mongol Ship Discovered In Japan

It may not look like much, but this is part of a Mongol ship that was discovered from an attempted attack. 36 feet of ship was found near Nagasaki in the Southern part of Japan. As mentioned in a previous post the rough waters of the Sea of Japan protected the country from attacks like these. Most ships ended up underwater. Mongolia was once a super power that attempted to take all of Asia. The article by the BBC mentions that their nautical skills weren’t up to par and ship building was done by “subjugated” Chinese and Koreans. Yes they were bad ass at the time. (BBC – Mongol)
