Giant Robot Store and GR2 News

It’s been reported by Chinese media that veggie might be grown on the moon? Probably not literally, but growing veggies in space as an experiment may happen. But hasn’t it happened already? We’re waiting to have a new dish called “Celestial Bok Choy” or how about “medical Marijuana?” It’s not a vegetable, but an “herb”. How much could that be sold for? That’s not the point, or is it? The LA Times released a story about Bryan Chan’s epic time lapse of the Space Shuttle Endeavour and how he did it. That said, he also generously gives mention to another time lapse by Michael Givot which is stunning in different ways. Obviously time lapses are no joke and the work that goes into it is more about planning than just the shooting. (LA Times – Bryan Chan) Original link to Bryan Chan’s piece. So, they don’t hate each other entirely. The rocket got launched by Japan, and now Korea has a strong satellite in the sky that can monitor their Northern Korean neighbors and just about anywhere in the world. Space Elevator? Go 1/4 of the way to the moon? 96,000km tall (60,000 miles) tall? All in 40 years. It would take civilians up the shaft to 36000 km where they’d stay, and only the scientists can go higher. The builder interested is the person behind the new Tokyo Sky Tree which is 634 meters tall. Read enough already, right? (Economic Times – Space Elevator)

The Heavenly Palace is the first step to China having their own space station. Have to love it, the Chinese government uses “America the Beautiful” music to the animation for the Cong space lab. Like their strange videos using Top Gun footage to show military planes in a drill, this one is more like a gaf. It’s nice sounding music that’s regal and dramatic, but American music to go with their precious launch? Someone music supervisor will be at a gulag soon. (Guardian – China Space Station uses American the Beautiful)
