I am the garbage man

Today, I dropped off a couple boxes of stuff at Goodwill and took three garbage bags full of beverage containers (mostly water bottles) to the recycling center. It was me and a bunch of homeless dudes in line, and I walked away with $5.45!

Above: Citizen Dog is Wisit Sasanatieng's follow-up to Tears of the Black Tiger. An interview with the director is in the new issue of GR, and latter film is making the rounds at U.S. arthouse theaters now!

Recycling is better than landfilling. Recycling gives trash a future. A future that leads to reincarnation . An empty soda can can be transformed into a new aluminum can. Empty plastic bottles can be transformed into new bottles , or garmets of clothing. Your worn out sneakers can be transformed into the surface of a new tennis court. Used veggie oil from restaurants can be turned into biodiesel. Landfills will never give trash a second life. The only activity that is better than recycling is reusing. Many countries in Europe offer consumers a chance to reuse beer and soda bottles. The consumer returns their empty bottles to the supermarket. Supermarkets issue the consumer a refund for returning their empty bottles. The bottles are cleaned and refilled. The bottles can be refilled twenty times . This process saves energy and natural resources.
