Crap, the problem with my laptop has been diagnosed. It's the logic board--a $300 fix. I could see myself re-entering the era of desktop computing...

The busted camera is going to cost more than I thought, too! This has been an expensive month...

if your ibook is still in warranty, then i'd play it safe and go with apple. but others might say differently.
No warranty. It was a hand-down, but it was a trustworthy, loyal companion for a decent amount of time. I liken it to my old Accord, which I got at 80,000 miles and drove until the odometer hit 240,000.

well in that case, get another, possibly cheaper, place take a look at it. if the HD still works, then you can always transfer the files to your new 17" macbook pro! :)
