Hello, Malolo

With the temperature finally dropping and rain following suit out here in California, I was motivated to dust off my snowboarding gear. It was nice to revisit the Malolo last night.

Like Arthur and Excalibur, Elric and Stormbringer, or Marty McSorley and his curved stick, fate brought me to it. I destroyed an edge of my trusty Custom during an early trip to Tahoe, and was forced to upgrade. I was already coveting the new Burton board with Thomas Campbell graphics (you can check the blog) but now I had an excuse to buy it.

After one season, it's already pretty beat. Mammoth gets some of the best snow on Earth, but I like to screw around on banks and edges of runs, which is where the rocks, logs, and trees lurk. Check out this P-Tex job. It looks like tracks on a junkie's arm but it's smooth as a baby's butt. I take pride in my P-Tex and waxing skills, which were passed onto me by my dad.

I may never have a chance to buy one T. Moe's pieces of art, but at least I have his awesome board--which is shaped for powder but is lighter and has more snap than any other board I've ever ridden. Oh, there's his book, too.
