Pushing Mongol

GR is proud to present a free advance screening of Mongol, starring Tadanobu Asano (Ichi the Killer, Zatoichi, Last Life in the Universe) as the Asian conquerer. When I saw a press showing of Sergei Bodrov's epic film, I was blown away from the very beginning (where you hear throat singing at a theater-rattling volume) to the end (with massive scenes in which you can see the hooves on the hundreds of horses going into battle). You've probably seen Asano act effortlessly cool or cruel in previous roles, and I swear he takes those demeanors to new heights in this movie.
