Ball State
Late this afternoon, Eric and I landed in Indy and arrived at Ball State for tomorrow afternoon's speaking engagement. Muncie, Ind is a small, small town. It appears that the main drag is about two blocks long with a Subway, a Cajun place, a Chinese joint, and some sports bar. Guess which one we went into? (There was also a RPG store called The Wizard's Lair but it was closed.) At 7:30, the street was already dead--perhaps due to a big football game, and it was desolate. We went bowling in the student center and were the only ones there. I went for a late-night run around the campus--one of my favorite things to do in an area that's new to me--and it was eerily desolate but nice.
Who's going to show up tomorrow? The talk is presented by the Asian students union, but I saw maybe three Asian people all night. The alumni mag in the hotel room doesn't show one. Well, maybe they're all studying in the library or doing karaoke night at some pizza place? If you're anywhere near Muncie, come on out. We've been fine-tuning the GR presentation and think you'll dig it.
