Some GR Biennale 2 pics

Last night's opening at JANM was not just an amazing art show put together by Eric but a true GR milestone, and I was glad that my entire family could attend the event. To the left of Eric and me are Dad, Wendy, and Mom. On the right, my brother Greg, sister Angelyn, and brother-in-law Carlos. The front row is Eloise and her cousins Saoirse and Lucia.
After being introduced by JANM admiral and GR supporter George Takei, Eric invited the artists onstage.

This is what it looked like from the stage--Charles Peterson style. In the foreground are Wendy, Eloise, and photographer friend Ben Clark, who contributed a room's worth of images and memories.

I had to get a picture with George, too. A pop culture giant and hardcore activist.

So many friends in the crowd... I'm just going to throw out a bunch of pics, starting with actress and writer Ayako Fujitani not only contributes to GR, but she did a load of work during the install.

Intern Yuki and the most powerful woman in L.A., Cate, hold down the fort.

The newest member of the GR family, Brandon, with his gf Jennifer.

Artist and friend of Eloise, Stella Lai.

Eloise meets Babo's dad, David Horvath.

Longtime GR friend Souther Salazar.

Sandy from the Red Krayola and Zack from Inside Out/Rage Against The Machine/One Day as a Lion say hi to Eloise.

Wendy and artist on the loose Saelee Oh.

Artist Albert Reyes wearing his dad's suit.

Artist Jack Long with his certificate from the City of L.A., which many of the artists received.

With Ben and Kumquat catalog cover girl Isabella.

Half of kozyndan got dressed up.

Adam Robezzoli from attractmo.de, who developed the artist/indie gamer collabs.

Musician Joe Hahn with artists Dave Choe and James Jean. GR dudes for life.

Bobby MF Hundreds and Joe Hahn.

GR Minister of Color Pryor Praczukowski, who shot and edited a 20+ minute video for the show, and the little ladies.

I had never met artist Edwin Ushiro before, but saw his name tag and introduced myself.

Sandra and Joe Escalante know my auntie. Look for the member of the Vandals and Barely Legal radio show host to return to the airwaves soon...

Many thanks to JANM's art czar Clement Hanami for booking an excellent show and providing a ton of memories.

Extra thanks to Wendy's dad (on the left) for taking Eloise home so Wendy and I could stay out late and partake in late-night Chinese food at Full House with the GR62 crew.

The event goes through January, so it's not over yet... Get the scoop at janm.org.

Party of the year... I can't wait for 2011
