Space Halloween

For the last few years, we've been going to my sister Angelyn's house in Eagle Rock for Halloween. Every year, her neighborhood goes off with trick-or-treaters roaming in packs up and down the sidewalks. This was Eloise's first time to hit the sidewalks.

Dudes. Carlos, Martin Cendreda, and I are carving our Jack O' Lanterns while Bill supervises.

Greg put us all to shame by arriving with Saoirse in full costume.

The kids' costumes were pretty amazing, including chicken, egg, and octopus. The cousins and Margot channeled Shonen Knife circa 1991 in their Mondrian gear! If you don't know the Japanese indie group (who are on tour now), a "Space Christmas" 7" single sleeve with the trio all dressed up is below.

I don't remember how it happened, but I came up with the idea, Wendy and I bought the fabric, my sister made the design, my mom cut the patterns, and my sister had them sewn. Whew!

She picked them up this morning. Who knows? Maybe she'll start offering them through her baby clothing company, Kumquat...

We went into Carlos' Music Friends studio for some band portraits. I think Margot was a little antsy and wanted to go after some candy, so after that it was on to trick or treating for the kids and hanging out for the parents.

Thanks to Ang, Carlos, and Lucia for the Halloween hospitality.

Boo! (And don't miss the grown-up Shonen Knife on tour now.)

That's really awesome! I hope you have a great B-Day and thanks for the mag!
