On Korean eye jobs–this time on CNN
My friend/Seoul-based CNN reporter Kyung Lah reported this piece on the popularity of cosmetic surgery in Asia to make Asians look more Caucasian. She asked me to provide critical comments because she couldn’t find any locals that would do it! So I went to the CNN building in Hollywood back in February and answered some questions. The clip is finally airing on cable today, but you can also watch it via the news network’s blog site as well. I look kind of sleepy and probably could have used some eye-opening ssangapul surgery myself, but maybe it’s because this is the third time I’ve provided thoughts on the subject for television. I’d previously done so on Tyra and Dr. Phil (and had makeup and stylists attend to me in those cases). I never aspired to be the go-to guy on Asian eye jobs–each of the programs contacted me–but I think Kyung’s clip is the most comprehensive and investigative and is worthy of a watch. Maybe even a “share”…

Thank you very much Martin Wong for sticking up to the beauty of the real natural Asian look, which is really a rainbow variety of “phenotypes-genotypes”… I think it’s utterly ridiculous for the Korean mom to brainwash her daughter into believing the standard for beauty is the “Caucasian look”. WTF? She’s no Tiger Mom, she’s not even a Pig Mom. She is Cockroach Mom!
Where does that leave all of us Asians who have NATURAL big eyes and higher nose bridges or narrower jaw-lines?!? (Jang Seo-hee, Nina Li, Fan Bingbing, Tong Yali, Liu Yifei, Acha Tsendep, just to name a few notable female natural celebrity types) Somewhere between Mongoloid and Caucasoid or Negroid?!?
This may have something to do with those populations within the Korean peninsula being geographically isolated for so many generations, which lends more to Endogamy in a gene-pool with less variation, which give these Koreans a more distinctive appearance, not so varied like the mainland Asians, especially on the plains. One can observe the great variance in the “Chinese look” from all different parts on the mainland, and that look includes “the look” or features that the morons and brainwashed idiots are insinuating “belonging to the Caucasians”. LOL!
Look up some crazy racist editorials on Wikipedia where those anti-Asians are hard at work trying to brainwash readers with tainted articles in their own way: “Penis panic”, “Dog meat” (+talk page-big debate going on about whether or not to link highly European practice of preparing “Horse meat” and “Whale meat” articles to the dog meat article), “Epicanthic fold”, “East Asian blepharoplasty”, “Ket people” (this is a good example in observing the western-colonialism/Russian-collectivism to “Caucasian-fy” and Christianize the native Siberian populations, much like how “white power” subjugated and eradicated much of the Native American identity), etc.
Hey Listen,
All you asian lovlies out there. I am of African-American, Native American (Muscogee), and European (Irish-German) ancestry. I’ve traveled the whole world and dated nearly every race of woman on earth.
Don’t let the ad agency Photoshop artists fool you. NOTHING, NOWHERE, NO HOW, NO WAY compares to the gentle grace and and delicate beauty of an asian woman’s eyes. European women have envied your beauty for centuries. Finally, the european media has STOLEN your emotions and left many of you feeling that your looks are inferior. DON’T BUY IT!
Go to the mirror, and say to yourself, “Let’s Roll” and take your emotions back from the “thieves”. Next, get going with your gifts, talents, wisdom, and great looks to successful careers and wherever your heart leads you!
YOU GO (ASIAN) GIRLS!!!!!
I’M ON YOUR SIDE!!!!
Again?! Haha.
Well, I have to chime in with my librarianess here, there’s a funny book by An Na called The Fold where the protagonist is dealing with the issue of whether or not to have double eyelid surgery. I highly recommend it.
