i didnt like the Jollibee burgers when i ate them during my trip to the philippines. they a lil too.... juicy or something. something funky about them joints... and i hate the small portions restaurants gave over there. "trick, i asked for a large!"

That place is pretty good. If you compare it to Mc Donald's, then it's better. But overall, it's just weird how Jollibee is American junk food, but when you go to the restaurant, there's not one non Filipino person there. But that's cool and impressive. It's good and just a strange phenomenon. But also imagine, if you grew up eating Mc Donald's, it's hard to beat... The taste of their hamburger is unlike anything else, even though it's crap.

I don't eat the burgers, but I definitely recommend the peach-mango pie over the other one (banana-something?). The toys looked pretty cool, too.

the only weird thing about the burgers - they're kinda pale, with weird dark flecks in them. i like the spaghetti though, sweet just the way i like it. and my friends thought i was crazy when i used to spoon sugar onto my noodles. pshhh! :P

i dont always like eatting spaghetti when i eat out. there's always that one slurp that flings some sauce onto my shirt. damn.
my friend said that in korea, they sell bulgogi burgers at mcdonalds.
although i rock the korean blood, i aint sure how bul-go-gi is spelled. anyway - i just thought it was funny. bulgogi is kind of like meat jun right? meat wraped in egg. is this true?
if so i think that's funny. if not, i think that funny.

I live in a "culturally diverse" city .. and we don't have ANY cool places to eat.
Not even a "Hot n' Now" the redeemed Midwest fastfood chain.

like Chris Rock said, "you better take your ass to Hardy's"
When I went to Bowling Green State University in northern Ohio, my dorm was accross from a Hot n' Now. Burgers were like 50 cents or something, and they were normal size. The strange thing was that everyone in the dorm was getting sick. We all just assumed it was a result of living in a communal situation with shared ventilation. Maybe, but 2 months later, the Hot 'n Now got shut down for extensive health code violations.
So if you're in the midwest, skip the hot n now and find a white castle.

bulgogi is thin sliced beef that is marinated in a soy/garlic sauce then grilled/pan fried/whatever. it is not like meat jun. i think i'm going to make a special effort to get a stop over in korea just to try those. in thailand and indonesia, the mcdonald's sell rice w/fried chicken. and where one normally would have ketchup, they've got some spicy sauce.

doods, j-bee rocks the house. i remember when they first opened one in the bay area... the lines were like out the door. it was crazy.
their peach mango pies... ooh orgasmic. eat it with ice cream from mitchells and you've got yourself a party. except an hour later you're running towards the loo, damn lactose. the new pie, banana langka is equally as good.
their toys are pretty neat. my dad was so excited when they first opened that he bought the j-bee nitelite. i was so embarrassed when he got it for some reason. now it sits in my cubicle and everyone thinks he's the kyootest.
i had some of their chicken last night. greasy and crispy, just the way i like it.
funny thing, the j-bee here in the bay area attracts a lot of latinos. i think that's awesome. mo' love.

The pies are definitely worth the trip!
They're made the same way the old-school McDonalds apple pies were made. Mmmm, deep fried. They have the same flaky weird crust and lava hot insides!
Of course, this could quickly turn into a rant about the old apple pies from McDonalds... I loved those things! The new ones are crap compared to them. One of the greatest discoveries I ever made was that in '96 they were still the being sold in Spain. I wonder if they still are the same over there...

The mcdonalds in the U.K. had a indian style menu, curry chicken burgers, fried vegetables with dipping sauce. And in Europe they released a line of bugers, the:
McGermany-ground pork patties
McFrance-breaded pork
McBritain-I think it looked like pork...but had two patties like a big mac
McMalaysia- a regualr burger with flat asian bread and some gerneric asian sauce
McEurope-This sandwhich had a bunch of cut up white cubes, I wasn't sure if it were tofu or feta cheese, either way it is gross (raw tofu in a sandwich!)

my best friend's dad went to one in san francisco or something when we were like 5 or something with his friend to use the bathroom real quick, but like the assholes working there said they needed to buy something first, so while they were waiting for their order, my friend's dad saw this guy who owed him some money from before... so he went up to the guy and tried to ask for it, and the guy got all mad and acted like he wanted to fight or something, so before it got too hot my friends dad was like.. ok let's take this outside then cause theres kids here... so when they were outside, the bad guy pulled out a 45 and shot my friends dad and his friend and ran away... my friend is fatherless cause of jollibee... :(

60 east, exit Azusa, turn left on Azusa, drive for like 5 miles. you'll hit Amar and it's located diaganolly to your left.
map (http://maps.yahoo.com/py/maps.py?BFCat=&Pyt=Tmap&newFL=Use+Address+Below&addr=&csz=la+puente%2C+ca&Country=us&Get%A0Map=Get+Map)
you can turn left on Amar and turn right into the shopping center. or you can pass Amar and turn left at the next light, Manilla Way. i believe there's a filipino market there also, so it's pretty easy to find.
timeframe? i don't know. the interior was gutted out and all the old BK signage was removed. there's just a big Jollibee "Coming Soon" banner hanging out on the front. i don't know how long it's been like that. i just saw it today for the first time. maybe coming mid-summer?
in the meantime, you can hit up L&L in the Puente Hills Mall for some yummy hawaiian grub. :)

I love that! It's not just in Thailand and Indonesia, they do that in Malaysia and Singapore as well. Not only at McDonald's, but KFC and stuff too. KFC's spicy chicken is actually spicy, whereas here in the UK it's not (I dunno about the US because I've actually not been to one there, surprisingly).

Hey Bay Area people. I live in the south bay and they have a Jollibees in Union City right off 880 next to the Krispy Kreme and there is a Jollibees on Tully Road in San Jose across from Eastridge Mall. They only opened these up within the last 5 years. Carls Jr. may say they are the first chain with Angus burgers but I was eating them at Jollibees way before Carl's was even talking about it. Jollibees Angus burger with pineapple - yummy.

The Jollibees in Daly City (on Mission) was the first Jollibees in North America.
I'm all about pinoy power, but I'm kinda meh on the great bee. It's kinda pricey and the portions are small.
When they first opened up the local pilipino community (well the ones born in the late 70s and 80s) bumrushed it because they were nostalgic. The hype has kinda cooled off though.

The big jolli-bee standing outside the restaurant is as fresh as their fried chicken and spaghetti combo. Love that shit.

Jollibee, Beverly Bl.
Jollibee makes an excellent first impression. The interior is bright, clean, and tidy, with no plastic or grease smell, simple, appealing color scheme, three teenaged employees cleaning at all times during my visit, and no pollen on the floor. The clientele, who were almost exclusively filipino, seemed happy to be there, in contrast to the deadened stares I recall seeing at other fast food establishments. The only other non-filipino person I saw was a hipster who seemed desperate to order pie, but finally resigned himself to halo halo. I immediately passed judgement on him: he was a poser, a culture vulture, an asshole, and he probably worshipped Conor Oberst. I reminded myself that I had no basis other than his appearance for making such a judgement, and for all I knew he lived around the corner and ate here every day, so I turned my attention to the menu.
I went to Jollibee with the intention of ordering something other than a burger or chicken, and with a vague memory of a suggestion from shammy on what to order. The only non-burger, non-chicken items available were the spaghetti or the Palabok Fiesta. I had been told already that the spaghetti is quite sweet, and didn't think I'd like that, and the Palabok Fiest contains shrimp, which I don't eat, so I settled on a 2-piece Chickenjoy meal, which comes with rice and gravy, and a drink. I asked for Pepsi, and they were out of Pepsi. I tried to order a pie as well, but they were out of all pies, with theonly remaining dessert being the halo halo. I decided to skip the halo halo as I couldn't recall anybody raving about it. While I was not terribly impressed with a restaurant running out of Pepsi and pie before 3 in the afternoon, I thought that perhaps there had been a problem with deliveries rather than poor management, so I headed to my table with an open mind and hungry belly.
http://static.flickr.com/57/175470671_6b3a2373e7.jpg (http://www.flickr.com/photos/hemoglobinhummingbird/175470671/)
Uncertain how to handle the gravy, I decided to empty it onto my rice. The gravy, which I had thought might be sweet, was not, but it had a slight spiciness that I enjoyed. The rice was well-prepared, cooked through but still with some firmness and chew. The first few bites of the chicken were good -- a crispy batter enclosing juicy chicken. It's not so much that the batter was sweet, than that it was less aggressively salty than fried chicken elsewhere. As I munched, I took note of an ad on the wall for a prize that came with the kid's meal -- any one of three videos from Jolli-Skwela. These appeared to be VCDs dealing with shapes, numbers, or (English) letters, each with a rainbow, bee, and smiling children on the cover.
As I ate, I began to hit large pockets of fat under the chicken skin, which I found overwhelming. I don't know whether I got an exceptionally fatty piece or if it just seemed that way to me because I am unaccustomed to eating fast food. Perhaps if the chicken had been cooked longer or hotter, more of the fat would've rendered out.
http://static.flickr.com/49/175470672_52370128c7.jpg (http://www.flickr.com/photos/hemoglobinhummingbird/175470672/)
I took a last sip of my Minutemaid lemonade (nasty chemical taste) and smiled back at the incredibly appealing bee.
