Holy shit! Where in the hell did Ted Leo come from?!?!
Weeks ago, I started noticing all the Ted Leo shows selling out at work and I was like, "Hmm, Interesting...Lookout Band? Must get around to checking them out." But of course, my forgetfulness got to me before I could give Mister Leo his proper due.
So tonight, I finally picked the album "Hearts of Oak" up (as well as their earlier effort) and I have not taken it off repeat since I put it on...
Is Leo giving us Elvis Costello vibes? I think he is but refreshingly so, in a "Radio, Radio neo-redux" kind of way.
Fuck. Fuck. This is good shit.
Let's put this on a car stereo and pogo out in the street, ok?
Btw, SF Bots, Ted Leo show in May at the Bottom of the Hill, i believe.

I can't believe I forgot about Chisel?!?! Bad Jing.
Anyhow, my heart got broken today.
Poor Ted lost his voice in Urbana the other night and has had to cancel the rest of his tour in May, including his SF show. :(
*shakes fist at the state of IL*
Godspeed to Ted and his health.

The Year Ted Leo's Voice Broke...2003
Ballad of the Sin Eater and I'm A Ghost.
Perhaps and I do say perhaps the best back to back songs on a record since I don't know the fuck when.
I love when Ted lets loose the falsetto "foo ooo ooo ooo ooo ooo ooolish!"

I'm psyched for the new album and his upcoming tour.
He's playing the Great American on 11/6, the same night as Death Cab at The Warfield.
I'm hoping then that all the teeny boppers will be gazing forlornly at Ben Gibbard while the rest of us can oogle and sing along with Ted Leo

his old band Chisel was good. very Jam-influenced. he played in the basement of my old house years ago.

I LOVED Chisel. Got to see them a couple times during their brief existence. They had such a good sound. A couple of years ago we went to see Ted Leo at Amoeba for a an in-store, and I wasn't AT ALL into it. I put him out of my mind completely and then when I was copyediting for GR Martin reviewed his new album. I had completely forgotten that Ted was in Chisel and conditioned myself to reject all incoming Ted Leo/Pharmacists info & music.
Maybe I'll have to give them a second chance....

The El Rey show was awesome. Lotsa hits and a killer cover of SLF's "Suspect Device" at the end...

But back to the name. You know, there could be a 1/4 mixed in there somewhere.
you know, he *did* live in chinatown when he lived in boston.....hmmm.....
the video for me & mia is so low budget. its great.
saw him live last night at south street seaport. dude rocks out proper
They're so great live, but I didn't really like Shake the Sheets.
