Anyone else seen the previews for this show on Comedy Central yet? It looks pretty damned funny, but I'm also thinking that it might suck.

On a semi-related note, am I the only one here that thought The State sucked & had little &/or no comedic value?

Possibly.

I liked The State, but it couldn't hold a candle to Kids in the Hall.

i just bought a kids in the hall tape, because i can't watch at like three in the morning.

reno nine one one...i don't know, it's going to be a love or despise proposition, the premise has much potential...a half hour of "police dept." from kith

I saw the first episode not too long ago; it's pretty funny. I liked the part where they beat up the mime, and the closeted gay cop with the short shorts too.

I've got it Tivo'ed. It looks funny. It looks like a cross between Super Troopers and The Daily Show (just the newscasters).

Saw it last night thanks to Tivo. It's okay. The guy in the tight shorts is definitely a winner, but the three female cops all deserve to die horribly unfunny deaths. They were all terrible. Save that crap acting for Mad TV.

This show makes me chuckle. Reminds me of Best in Show sort of. Do you think they improvise some scenes?

this show is on hiatus for some reason. i heard that they didn't tape enough episodes. maybe they thought this show wouldn't catch on.

i hope it comes back soon. i've seen all the episodes twice already. i'm getting bored. ;)

Okay, I fucking love this show so much. Does anyone have the first season DVD? Please let me know if you like it before 3pm EST (12pm PST). Just want to know if it sucks before I plunk down money I don't really have on it.

Man, the episodes just get better and better.

I was really missing the cast members from "the State."

Anyone remember that stuff? There's still a couple MIA members I think...

i love the part when Garcia and Jones bust those kids on a rooftop who are trying to jump the divide between 2 buildings on a bike. they accept a bet that the kid can't do it so the kid tries and the ramp collapses and you just see him go right over the edge. so hilarious!

i also love TeeTee.

and everything else.

hahaha, i loved that part too. Wiegel is really fucked up and I really get a kick out of her. I love all of them, it's hard to pick a favorite.

shawgirl74

Wiegel's bit at her moms grave about the beanie babies and banning the Asians. hilarious.

In one of the earlier episodes Clem Johnson thought she was pregnant. Dangle picks up the yellow pages and demonstrates how he was going to flip through the pages and point at a random name to show how the father could be just about anyone. That was funny and not for the reason you're probably thinking. You had to be there.

The male black cop hangs out at Barney's Beanerie on Mondays sometimes.

Oooh I would like to meet Mr. Yarbrough

I liked that Dangle bit too. "There's usually a phone book here..."

i've only gotten a chance to watch one ep so far, the one with that english cop, officer smiley. funny as hell.

I need to get cable at my new place!

I think my all time favorite thing so far has been when Travis Junior is leading this group of kids through the jail and telling all of these fucked up stories about the inmates. the part when he was talking about the deputy whose balls were sliced off and cauterized by his belt bucklewas really funny. the whole visit was the best. the whole episode is great, but that is so far, without a doubt, my favorite thing so far.

I liked the recent episode where the televangelist visited the police station. This has turned out to be a great show after all.

i like this show - Thomas Lennon (fr. The State) always were nutter shorts w/his uniform.

I loved the ten commandments, and "I don't go to where you work and tell you you're going to hell" and when the helicopter tried pulling up the monument and rupped off it's legs, and they were like "how's he gonna land?"

montyburnz

In the first season, did the other cops ever comment on Dangle's gayness? I always got the impression they didn't get it.

his gayness was very ambiguous. He was always trying to get up on Office Jones (the black dude) but every now and then he would be trying to get on a woman.

Do you think the movie, "Reno 911: Miami" will be any good?

This is one of the few shows that my pot-smoking cartoon watching bf agree to watch together.

shawgirl74
07-14-2006, 09:44 AM
^^I hope so! I think for fans it will be great (I hope), and for people who think the show is stupid or they don't think it's funny it won't change their minds. We'll see, I guess!

Junior put it great on the DVD ad:

"You'll have to pay $9.50 for it, but it has nudity."

or something to that effect.

i need a few laughs.

plot spoiler!!!

Yeah, the replacement cops are the more glamorous versions of themselves. Comedy Central always teases me-they show the show prior to that episode, but not the actual replacement episode.
