I want to bash people's brains in when they read subtitles out loud, or even worse, when they read something that EVERYONE IN THE FUCKING MOVIE THEATER CAN SEE IF THEY HAVE THEIR EYES OPEN just because they think it's funny.
This tends to be worse when seeing subtitled Hong Kong action films, where 85% of the audience are nimrods.
Almost as bad as subtitle readers are the guys who laugh REALLY LOUD and for a really long time at something that wasn't that funny. This could also be applied to the jackasses that applauds at the end of action sequences, again accompanied by really loud, obnoxious guffaws.
Here's the thing boys, just because the movie is subtitled doesn't mean you can talk all through the movie. I assure you, it sucks ass, and not everyone is there to read subtitles.
People piss me off.

i hate it when people talk while i'm watching something. period. even commercials/trailers.
like i have this friend who'll come over while i'm watching tv and be like 'watchu watchin? what's it about? what did you do today? dude, i had the worst day today.'
DUDE, I'M WATCHING A MOVIE. are you stupid? oh i'm sorry. i forgot. yes you are stupid.

I'm one of the loud laughing dorks. I can't help it. I got a big laugh. The weirdest is when i go see a movie here in Korea like Austin Powers and laugh my ass off and i'm the only one laughing. They were funny parts. But the comedy doesn't translate well in the subtitles. That and the American pop culture references. I explain the stuff to my girl as best i can when we see stuff. Then she laughs - which is cool. I don't feel so lonely.

Talking (and while we're at it cellphones) in general at the theaters drives me nuts.
Aw shit! I was watching Traffic and I hear the muffled ring of a cell phone right next to me. Someone will turn it off soon, right? Nope. Fuckin' French lady takes the shit out of her purse and starts talking on it!!! "Allo? blah blah blah blah" I was speechless. All the while, the dialogue was going too fast for her and her young son, so they were constantly asking each other what was going on. Slightly annoying. I didn't have enough confidence in my French to yell, "Fermez la bouche!"
The last time I saw a sub-titled movie was Crouching Tiger. No one was reading aloud. The only annoying shit was people laughing at the flying kung-fu and saying audibly under their breath, "hah! oh gimme a break." But I think that was covered in a different thread...
Does anyone have those friends who like to whisper their inane, sarcastic comments to you during the movie. That's okay at home, but I'll be damned if I paid $10 to hear their stupid asses all freakin' night! Sometimes I'm forced to turn and whisper, "ok, shut the fuck up."

Um... remind me not to see a movie with you.
People that laugh when people on the screen use English phrases, or when the translation of the subtitles are messed up, also deserve to die.

I fucking turn around and say literaly shut the fuck up. I've gone to the manager a couple times demanding money back or a pass for next time because they don't notice talkers.
At least you say something! People just get away with so much crap in movie theaters.

A friend of mine saw Crouching Tiger and was stuck next to this guy who brought a kid that couldn't read the subtitles and spent the entire time READING HIM THE MOVIE! I would have had a fucking fit.
heahehaea oh man...this is so funny..but yeah..you guys would HATE watchig movies with me however i reserve the banter for the movies that fit into the "they sucked soo bad and this wasnt even my choice of a movie"
about the whole celphone thing..its my dream to one day answer a call in the theater and go
"oh yeah! im watching a movie right now! huh? oh them? naaah they dont mind..so wassup??"
last night i saw planet of the apes and during one of the scenes when the main bad monkey starts jumpin around breakin stuff i couldnt help but say out loud
"oh man! hes goin' ape shit!"
hah.....my mexican friend made a comment about getting stuck (in front of, or behind) mexicans who translate for eachother). i moan out loud when i hear shit like this, right before a movie: "planeta de los monos"

Once I went with my best friend's mom to see an opera (the best friend worked on the wardrobe for the production) and her mom talked all through the production!
I was actually shocked...my friend's mom and I are both Virgos, so we always have a good time tut-tutting about other people's manners, but here she was yakety-yak. I was too taken aback to say anything, and just tried to ignore her.
**exception to talking in the movie theatre rule**
It's perfectly fine with me, if not downright necessary, to scream obscenities during commercials that run prior to the trailers.
"I paid twelve fucking dollars to be here and you're making me watch an ad for the army!!!! Fuuuuuck awwwwwwf!!!!!"

I have seen this one guy say very loud PLEASE DO NOT TALK DURING THE MOVIE or something like that. I have seen him a few times at the same theater. The first time was a little shocking because he seemed to be the quiet type. He always shuts up the people who keep talking throughout the previews into the movie.
He's so cool. If there was a GR vote for your favorite stranger of the week then he would be my choice.

OK I can understand when people talk during movies and it pisses people off. When I went to go see Something About Mary though this lady was all upset because I was laughing, ALONG WITH THE REST OF THE THEATRE! What the hell was her problem. How can you go to see a comedy and not expect people to laugh? Fuck that bitch man.

Then the trailers came on and we shut up much to their happiness. I still to this day don't understand that shit. [/B]
When the lights go down, you shut your mouth. Those are the rules.

Oh, you mean like those still advertisements? I thought you meant the ones that they show now before the trailers.
Well, yeah.... that's kinda fucked. Were you talking loud, or using your inside voices?

Shit yeah. We went and saw MI:2 at the ghetto theater by our house. It was the first time we had ever been there, and it was the worst. So many cell phones, babys and people talking I thought I was going to go crazy. A couple weeks later it was turned into a $2 theater.
Another bad place to see movies around here is the Mall of America. Cell Phones going off _all_ the time...

That's exactly what it was like when we saw The Score. This dude sitting behind us commented on EVERYTHING. I'm still not sure if he figured out that the movie DIDN'T take place in Paris, but he sure let everyone around him know that Paris was nice. EVERY FUCKING THING THAT HAPPENED this guy said SOMETHING about. The man was a fucking moron and when my boyfriend turned around to ask him to shut the fuck up, he was oblivious. Too caught up in the movie. His girlfriend noticed and gave us a dirty look, but she didn't shut her man up.
That fucking sucked.

that happened to me at a revival screening of "Last Emperor". This woman behind me didn't "talk" per se but had a little noise for every shot..."awwww" for the cute or sad things, "tsk" for the evil /bad things....little laugh and harrumphs...god i wanted to kill her....

I remember when we used to have Chinese movie theaters here. Old ladies would do the AIYAH! comments. Not too bad if its an occasional thing but it will drive you crazy if they do it too much and for scenes that aren't exciting, scary, or shocking.

That damned Heineken Premium LightŪ commercial is fucking maddening and is in heavy rotation. I don't watch much television, but the two shows I do watch regularly (Daily Show & Colbert Report) are liberally peppered with this damnable commercial. Your beer (or any beverage for that matter) should not be "hot" or "a freak like me"! And that annoying jingle by the Pussycat Dolls or whoever the hell they are, don't even get me started!
The idiot who hatched this idea, the director, creative/artistic producer of this piece of trash together ought to be dragged out on the streets and made to run a gauntlet of strapping wrestlers, brigands and street urchins outfitted with bats and bricks.
Whew. Rant over. Thanks for your time.

i laugh pretty loud. i think it's an ethnic thing.
although i don't know why anyone would read subtitles aloud.
i don't mind talking in a movie, dependent on the frequency and the timing.
