so i'm thinking about a nice chill kind of mixtape, something to soothe yet groove and move. and i've got a few tracks in mind, but i'm runnin oot!

so far i've got: teardrop/MA, Souvenir/OMDMoby rmx, (porcelain too? i'd hate to look like a sorority girl), cruisin/d'angelo cover, getmeawayfromhereimdying/b&s...

anyone got anymore suggestions? i don't think that's 70 mins. :(

How about something off Rock & Roll station by Nurse with Wound. Excellent stuff...it sounds nothing at all like the rest of the NWW catalog.

01 DJ SHADOW | building steam with a grain of salt
02 LAMB | trans fatty acid (kruder & dorfmeister mix)
03 BOARDS OF CANADA | turquoise hexagon sun
04 DJ KRUSH | dig this vibe
05 DAVID HOLMES | gone (kruder & dorfmeister mix)
06 BOARDS OF CANADA | hi scores
07 BASSIC | seduction
08 NEON GENESIS EVANGELION (REFRAIN) | forbidden gene
09 BOARDS OF CANADA | everything you do is a balloon

that's the very last thing I'd use.

every motherfucker AND fatherfucker has flogged THIEVERY to death--ESL & K7 in-general. They work ok as individual tracks, but often times packaging (TOSCA's "Suzuki") and entire bodies of work comes across better--unless you're mixing that shit.

how about some cat stevens? please keep quality control and push boundaries, please.

speaking of chill, how about some:

cardigans/erase-rewind

chemical brothers feat. hope sandoval/asleep from the day

zombies/flowers for emily

something off death in vegas' "scorpio rising", anmial collective's latest 2-disc. even a track from Dido's "life for rent".

i was trying to think of a good theme for my next mix(s)...
maybe seasons? or colors? numbers? then i thought maybe a mix of musicians that were related somehow... in each other's bands & stuff... sorta a 6 deg of sep thing?? i dunno...
(oh, i'm def. gonna make a 'california' mix too!)

(laughs) sure it did...you didn't list the most overused-terms in recent musical memory: "downtempo", "chill-out", "zero 7" and "thievery corporation", although if that was stuck on your tape, it's probably the coolest for the fact that it's on an all-but-extinct format.

^ Neither did that. Hehe.

...

I think it'd be cool to put together alternative soundtracks for movies real or imagined.

How about a "calm the fuck down" mixation, where something just happened, and you throw some tracks together to remember it?

A couple weeks ago I got four or five hits around the eye and had a nice half-to-three-quarter inch cut that dripped helluv-everywhere; so instead of checking into an ER, I got the gauze/peroxide/etc. from the Safeways and let that rot in for about a day before I got it properly stitched up...anyways, I made a mix and threw together a buncha fun stuff. Then I ordered about a dozen of those Lucky Disc guys and blew off some spins for the fine people at Rasputin's Records down the road for giving me ice, letting me use the phone and driving me around.

I am working on my next mix tape, a sterling mix of Bond themes, bossanova, lounge, soul and all manner of often neglected goodness.

No mixtape ideas from me. But, I recently thought of two tracks that would go well back to back, BBD's "Poison" into Usher's "Yeah".

Thoughts?

Somone should do a shitty music mixtape with everthing fom Eddie Murphy's "party all the time" to Yusef Islam's(Cat Stevens) "A Is For Allah". It also Needs to have gems like Vanilla Ice's "Ninja Rap" & Some Chuck Manson for good measure.

That's actually what I usually do when I'm making a mixtape. They're usually offbeat comedy-dramas, although coming up with a soundtrack for an imaginary action or horror flick would be interesting.

I think the next mix that I make will have an anagrammatic track listing, if that makes any sense.

8)DJ Assault: Ass n' Titties
9)Travis: Baby One More Time
10)The Fools: Life Sucks and Then you Die
11)Aphex Twin: Ventolin
