Hi would you guys like to check out my website and give me some pointers on what I should work on in terms of the site and content?

www.opticalweapons.com

It's the first time I ever made a site and I guess it shows.

I visit the GR forums quite a bit but I hardly post.

thanks

yea, I think you should have a consistant nav on each page...

I guess if you're going for the minimalist look, I think the underlined nav works better than bullets.. I kinda like the grey links though.

nice prints work. where are you located?

I'll have to work on the navigation. I'm thinking about changing the color scheme a bit.

Thanks for the sugestions.

Kingka: I'm located in Vancouver Canada

I like your site, it's kind of refreshing to have the white space. It keeps the focus on your work. I agree with having nav menus on every page.
*Are you going to be selling your dolls and clothes?

Nice work Vinz. I agree with having constant navigation and with the whitespace keeping focus. Funny, I remember being forwarded an ad for a junior design position at Sugoi. From your links I see you know Order1 and also the Solesearching boys huh? Matt is having a video game tourney at the end of the month if you haven't heard.

PS:Welcome to the board.

I like the whiteness. I find it refreshing, restful.

I like the white as well, but the navigation: It's too hard to read the light grey. Perhaps it could darken as you roll over it?

Yeah, the grey is a little light. It would be nice if it was a little darker grey, and after you visited that link it would be the original lighter grey you have it now.

Thanks for the compliments and suggestions everyone.

Axelhoney: I like your idea.

I'm not selling the dolls or the clothing, I usually just make the dolls and some clothes for myself and friends.

I went to your site, it looks really good. I love that bun in the oven image

JLS: I only know Matt, I only see him every so often, he's a good guy.

Damn I'm just rereading my posts, just to let everyone know I have terrible spellung...I mean spelling.

I made an update to my site, my illustration section is up. I made a change to the colors slightly and I worked on the navigation. It's still rough but I think I'm going to run with the stark white look until I get all my content together then work on a version 2.

i like the current nav system. it's nice and functional. be mindful of resolution...i don't know what resolution would be optimal for this site, i run on 1024 x 768 and the nav bar looks tiny compared to the body, thus making the whitespace look huge and kind of unattractive. otherwise, great stuff.

hey vinz,

i've seen some of your work around town, have always enjoyed the bills for the tokyo lounge :) welcome to the board.
i think i've prolly met you before? do you know alfa or caesar or rolph?
i think the current nav system is functional, but you might want to resize some of the images so they're all consistant, and remain within the window (because right now some images to only 1/2 an inch or so beyond the screen and the audience would have to scroll down to view the whole thing as well as to move to the next piece of work).

Oh man, I didn't do any work for Tokyo Lounge those posters that you see around town are by another guy.

I made the ones up on my site for my friends birthday, they're just fakes no way endorsed by Tokyo Lounge. I think I'll take those images down from my site, I don't want people to get the wrong idea. I'll change them to a made up club or somthing.

thanks for the suggestions.

Ultra clean. The simplicity puts emphasis on your work. Nice job with the Fatchance promo material. I actually ran into Matt last night.

Hey thanks for the comments.

I have a new site up, I decided to split my personal stuff with my more professional stuff.

So www.youngestincharge.com is my new site. Once again it's a simple site, with simple content.
