Based on the concept of the writer's bench in graffiti culture, SKETCHBOOK
is an open invitation event to bring Giant Robot readers, artists, and
friends together for a night of collaborating for the sake of art and
spontaneous creativity. Patrons are encouraged to bring their sketchbooks
/ blackbooks, designs, photos, collages, writing pieces, etc. and share
with others. Out of respect for the venue, please no spraypaint or
vandalizing of property.

* ATTENTION CREATIVE PEOPLES: we're seeking YOUR art to display at the venue. All artwork will
projected on video screens for patrons to see, then later, here on the Robot Lounge. The theme for the artwork? FOOD. Submit all food-related jpegs, gifs, mpegs, etc. at 72 dpi here (brent@giantrobot.com). Contact for further details.

just want to make requests for your art, photos, etc. of anything you would like to submit that's food related. so this includes doodles of your ideal meal, photos from the fresh fruits and vegetable market, photoshopped pix of you riding a huge donut, packaging for an invented food product... whatever really. just have fun with it.

i'll accept jpeg, gif files at 72 dpi or mpegs. we'll have these on rotation at the venue for everyone to see your stuff.

also, lomo wants to get down with us on some photography stuff, so hopefully we can work that out.

and looking to get some food sponsorship as well.

I was up there but I didn't make it cause I had to work 7am next day, which I could of done if I had a car.

Ran into Brent at the Knitting Factory on Friday night, that was pretty random. I relized later I had been told about that event, and if I had remembered, would have suggested we go check it out, but I didn't have to cause my friends I was with knew the other DJ.

thank you everyone who came out and / or partipated in SKETCHBOOK. despite some difficulties with the venue, it turned out to be a good time. made new friends, danced, laughed, ate, drank, drew... all in a night's work.

because we were unable to get the images loaded for view at the venue, i'm looking into having the images at the next event - the issue 35 release party, 2 weeks into december.

special thanks to ryan, derek, jonathan, and most importantly RYANSUCKSCOCK for helping me out in the crunch (pun intended). also, ming tran at vegan supreme marshmallows for the vegan crispy treats and vegan marshmallows. they were GREAT!!! it was awesome how our crew was oggled on the subway and walking down the street with a platter of treats. more head turning than a tranny with fishnets and ass watching the exorcist.

also, big ups to the new robots on the board. welcome dudes! i look forward to seeing you out more at our events.
