i wear maah suunnnnnn glasses at night..
i wear maah suunnnnnn glasses at night..

So I can, So I can
Watch you weave then breathe your story lines

And I wear my sunglasses at night
So I can, So I can
Keep track of visions in my eyes

While she's deceiving me, she cuts my security
Has she got control of me
I turn to her and say

*Chorus*:
Don't switch the blade on the guy in shades; oh no
Don't masquerade with the guy in shades; oh no
You got it made with the guy in shades; oh no

And I wear my sunglasses at night
So I can, So I can
Forget my name while I collect your claim
And I wear my sunglasses at night
So I can, So I can
See the light that's right before my eyes

While she's deceiving me, she cuts my security
Has she got control of me
I turn to her and say

*Chorus*:
Don't switch the blade on the guy in shades; oh no
Don't masquerade with the guy in shades; oh no

When you get up in the morning and the light is hurt your head
The first thing you do when you get up out of bed
Is hit that street a-runnin' and try to meet the masses
And go get yourself some cheap sunglasses
Oh yeah, oh yeah, oh yeah

I spot a little thing and I followed her all night
In a funky pair of levis and her sweater's kind of tight
She had a west coast strut that was as sweet as molases
But what really knocked me out was her cheap sunglasses
Oh yeah, oh yeah, oh yeah

Now go out and get yourself some thick black frames
With the glass so dark thay won't even know your name
And the choice is up to you cause they come in two classes
Rhinestone shades and cheap sunglasses
Oh yeah, oh yeah, oh yeah

black flys are nice...bought a pair a few years ago..have no idea where they are now, but they were pretty damn durable, i liked em better than arnets ...

seriously, I try not to spend more than $5 on sunglasses, because I just lose them or sit on them or drop them out my car window while I'm on the freeway. And I try to get wayfarers, but it's hard these days. Hard both to get wayfarers and to pay less than $5. Showing my age, I've liked wayfarers since Risky Business came out. 'Cause Tom Cruise wore them when he danced around to Bob Seger. Any of you kids know what I'm talking about? Oh forget it.

01-17-2003, 09:06 AM
anything made by spy is pretty cool. the pair i have now have scoops on the outside of the lenses so that they don't fog when i am biking out in the cold and am all sweaty. it's really a nice feature.

what's more? their home page is orange :)

anyone got more websites or stores in LA the sell sunglasses for a decent price? i'm looking "sporty" ones like Oakley or Rudy Project, but these things are freakin expensive at most places. i need something to protect my eyes when i run.

I can never find a decent pair of sunglasses that suit me. This summer I dragged an unfortunate friend across the city searching for a pair but none of them were any good. All I want is a pair that a) won't make me look like an insect, and b) are fairly lightly tinited. Do you think I could find a pair? Could I bollocks.

yeah, i have a hard time finding sunglasses too. i've got a big head and a low bridge. this rules out most of the plastic type sunglasses for me. so i'm kinda stuck with the metal/wire frames with nose pads. but running or biking with metal shades really sucks.

i really like this pair from Rudy Project, but i just need to find a place that sells them cheap. actually, i need to try these on first and see if they fit my big melon head. ;)

people wearing them indoors is surely just not required.

im thinking of getting theses:

polarized is a difference.

all light reflected directly at your eyes is filtered out,

allowing you to see what is reflecting the light.

it's real handy at sunrise and sunset and also

when looking at water and trying to see past it's surface

08-20-2004, 07:57 AM
btw, every pair of oakley's i've ever owned broke immediately

polarized lenses make a difference if you're golfing or fishing. they really do a good job at blocking glare. but most of the polarized glasses i've seen are not that dark. so if you want something darker, you may want to look for something else.

I'm looking for some new sunglasses, and I want something thats actually got UV protection so cheap is out. I am looking to spend under $200. Any suggestions? I've been wearing oakleys for a couple years (not those lame plastic wrap around though). I'm looking at Electric and VOn Zipper. Does anyone have expereince with either brand? From what I've seen they look about the same price and quality wise just the differnt styles. Thanks for the help.

Ha! I got the the typical asian face. I have to buy glasses with the nose pads on them, otherwise the frames slide down my face. I can't wear aviator or wrap-around frames because the bottoms of the lenses dig into my cheekbones.

I went shopping for sunglasses a few weeks ago. It seems that all stores, from high-end department stores like Bloomingdale's to mall stores like Sunglass Hut sell the same men's brands (Oakley, Ray-Ban, Moasley Tribes, Maui Jim, Prada, etc.). The margins on sunglasses are so high, I expected to see more brands.

My Mom has a hard time finding specs for the same reason.

In terms of comfort and fit, if you have a rounder or broader face, it's better if the stems of the eyeglasses/sunglasses have more of a bow or curve to them. An old pair of glasses I wore had straight stems and would leave marks on temples because of my asian moonface. :(

Finally got myself a real pair of Ray-Ban aviators. No more $5 plastic knockoffs. The glass(?) lenses are heavy. I was able to adjust the nose pads so the lenses are away from my cheeks. But I get nose pad marks, and from the side, the lenses look a smidge far from my face. And there's a big gap at my brow line where a lot of glare gets in. Whatever, at least they look okay.

09-12-2008, 03:23 PM
It sounds like you enjoy the look. As long as you don't have to actually fly a plane, those frames should work just fine.

I wonder if Ray-Ban's Asian division produces frames that fit asian faces better...

I picked up a pair of Maui Jim Stingrays a few weeks back.

Anyone recommend any good vintage sunglasses boutiques in LA?

"100% real or your money back".. hmmm.

my guess is that this guy is not an authorized dealer. that's how/why the prices are so cheap. nothing wrong with that. i'd rather save a few bucks too.

not too crazy about the paypal thing. because if they turn out to be knock-offs or factory defects, it might be a pain to get your money back.

I swear I've seen people wearing these on the street. It really is like they are from the future. Geordi LaForge style. It would be more acceptable if they had some sort of embedded HUD system or were watching mpgs.

Funny, I just got the Santino. Last year, I tried on every single pair of sunglasses in a store and determined the Santino was the optimal fit for my face. Kind of upset to learn that the frames are from China.

I only recently heard about RE. Wasn't RE started by someone who used to work for AO? I have AO original pilot sunglasses from a few years back and they seem decent enough, and cost way less than RE. but, I was disappointed to see that the frames said Made In China

All of my sunglasses these days are expensive. Entirely due to the fact that they are all Rx sunglasses. Currently have a pair of Oakleys that I really like.

That's something I've always wondered. Are polarized lenses always lighter?

These are mine:

I don't think I've ever seen a pair of polarized lenses that are limo-tint black.

joetron2030
06-08-2011, 06:19 AM
I don't believe it's the polarizing that makes them darker (or lighter). I think it's the specific tinting that's done instead.

If you don't want people to see your eyes, get them mirrored. :D

I think that because they are polarized, they block more light than just darkly tinted glasses. For the polarization to be effective, more light may need to pass through the lens? So they can't be super dark?

But yeah, go for the iridium finish. I wish that I had. I didn't get it because the tech that sold me the glasses said that the mirror finish can reflect the sun down onto your face and give a bad burn.

I wonder if you can even get iridium finishes for Rx Oakleys? (Just thinking aloud.)

if you wear a hat and pull it down low over your eyes, it makes jublee viewing more subtle.
