Like a Murano, CX7, etc. Know anyone, or do you drive one of these cars? It's like a wagon but not, etc.

Nissan and Mazda call the Murano and CX7 SUVs.

you're looking for a mid-size SUV?

what's a Honda Element?

Rented the PT Cruiser once from Avis. What a PIECE OF SHIIIIIIT!

SDP rented one of those Chevy HHRs when he came down to LA. That thing had very little interior space.

I bought a 2007 CR-V two months ago and it's been good so far. I see A LOT of this model on the road now and they're usually driven by soccer mom's whom I believe are the target audience for this vehicle. Obviously, I don't fit the description but the CR-V is perfect for my needs. I can fit all my junk in it including my bike (no need for a roof rack just yet). And it comes in handy when I have to drive my nephew who's 1. The car is loaded with safety features. I average about 25 mpg which isn't bad for a 4WD "SUV". I chose the CR-V over the Murano, the CX7 and the RAV4 because I prefer Honda over Nissan, Mazda and Toyota. And my CR-V was still 100% made in Japan which is somewhat important to me. I don't trust American or Canadian made cars. With the success of the newly designed model, they might move their assembly plants to the US.

And it was fugly.

The Aztec seems to be what you're looking for...it looks like an urban assault vehicle.

My friend has RX 330 and its nice has good power, decent space and room for 4. Had a rental Murano and Ford Freestyle (TaurusX) both were good but they both had cheap interiors with hard plastics and switches and the main sticking point to liking them for me was they had CVT transmissions which creates a odd driving sensation when you're expecting it to shift. The Murano interior was bad because the NAV screen was full color but then the instrument cluster was a monochromatic orange like those old computer monitors.

so...crossovers are just bigger cars?

08-17-2007, 10:15 PM
crossovers are essentially wagons that look like SUV's, to make it look more butch. they typically handle like a car, but have the horsepower/torque of an SUV. so now you can dart through a residential area at 60MPH with more confidence and control! ;)

i think the "crossover" fad is gone. car makers have dropped the label and are calling them SUV's now. finally.

the only "crossover" i like is probably the Infiniti FX. but it's pricey and not a good value. i like the Mitsubishi Outlander too. but i think it would've been hawt if they designed it as a sport wagon instead an SUV.

Infiniti is supposed to come out with a mini version of the FX next year. but it's more of a mini SUV rather than a crossover. something to compete against the BMW X3.

Those X3 are nice exactly like a regular 3 but taller. test drove it and others when GM was doing that travailing test drive thing.
That Mitsu Evo-lander concept was cool when they stuck the Evo 4G motor into a Outlander

i rented one of those crossovers on a trip. its ok. the seats are higher so its good for people who have a hard time entering sedan doorways.

Dodge Magnum looks cool.

08-17-2007, 10:39 PM
hell yeah. probably the only Dodge i like from their current line-up. i was hoping that thing would set off a wagon trend, but it doesn't seem like it so far.

I guess they're too low. Everybody seems to like elevation nowadays.

08-18-2007, 02:21 PM
i wish they picked a different name. sounds too much like moron-oh.

the murano and the cx-7 are for yuppie phags and soccer moms. what you want is the Wagon Queen Family Truckster, available in metallic pea.
