View Full Version : How to take care of Bamboo
Hey everyone. I was just curious if anyone on this board has some Bamboo plants in there house, apt., etc. I just got a rather large "stick" of one, if thats what you call it and I'm rather clueless on how you take care of it. Does anyone have any tips or rules, or perhaps a Bamboo web site I can refer to? Thanks everyone!

I just put a little water in mine every now and then. They're pretty easy to take care of. It'll last a good long time. The type I got had the baby shoots woven together and it's in a little pot.

Pretty much, I just add
some stones at the base
of mine.</font>
I just put mine is a cup of water, and change the water every 3 days, and sometimes I spray the top with some water. Thats what the girl who gave me the stick told me to do. No soil or rocks, could this be a problem? And I dont have it near any natural light, but I always have some sort of light shining on it, I hope it will be ok.

What's taniklink?.</font>
its actually spelled tanikling (er?)
its this traditional filipino folk dance (is that redundant?) with two long pieces of bamboo placed parallel to each other and on each end is a person holding onto both poles. then they "clap" the two poles together in conjunction with music and voila

usually younger kids now change the music and play like reggae or hiphop i dunno..sometimes they get it off, most of the time it comes off looking retarded..

Yeah, I remember being read an old folk tale about a crippled kid who was visited by a crazy long legged stork who taught her how to do the tinikling(sp?) dance. One of those Island Heritage picture books all the Hawaii kids grew up reading.

my bamboo ain't doing so well. Just change out the water every few days, that can't be all. Any more help?
is it in a good place?
fresh air?
they need light, but not too much direct sunlight.
if you're keeping it in water, you might want to add something for the roots to grab.
something like aquarium gravel or those little glass beads you get at craft stores...

your bamboo ain't doing so well? Have you consulted a reputable urologist?
