when i was little it was lucky charms. my mom finally had to put a stop to it because my brother and i would just dig all the marshmallows out and put them in our milk.
now i like raisin bran crunch and that cranberry one that post makes. always makes for good starving college student food.
fruity pebbles make the best crispy treats - sweet and fruity, just like me =:P

I never went for those crazy sweet things (esp Fruit loops - YUK!) although did love Frosties for a while, and coco pops

From Kelloggs (how sad):
- Sultana bran
- corn pops (now defunct) --> was not good for breakfast but good on its own - was like honey popcorn
- sports plus (endorsed by Australian institute of sport)

We have this brand called Uncle Toby's and i was pretty mad about Sports Plus breakfast bars.

It's all about the Cocoa Rice Krispies, people!!! Crispy sweet cereal, and chocolate milk when you're done! Damn!

Why did they replace Snap Crackle and Pop with a monkey?

Oh, no!!Cocoa Pebbles yields a much richer chocolate milk--my kitty, Stumpy, used to wait patiently until I was done eating the cereal, and then he would drink up all the chocolatey goodness. Good cereal memory...

although my best friend is named after a cereal (His nickname is Pink Frankentein) i gotta go with a breakfast treat my mom taught me back in the day.

1. get a box of graham crackers and take out a package.
2. without opening the package, bash it hard with your fist.
3. pour the broken bits in a bowl and add milk!

Viola!

i usually put in just enough to make it nice and pasty...

I gotta agree with the graham cracker style. The other night I had this weird dream where the Lucky Charms leprechaun was trying to get all his lucky charms together and they were flying everywhere. It all ended when a Smurf had to let me know that I wasn't Smurfette.

Waffelos are my all-time favorite cereal from the '80s. They were great, and so was their mascot Waffelo Bill.

Today I do Total or Smart Start because they taste good and are practically like taking multivitamins. They also turn my pee a deep golden color!

Remember Strawberry Cakes, the toy midget dolls that smelled sweet in the 80's? for a short time they had a cereal out, when it came out my dad went out to the store just to get that. My brother and I finished the box within three days. tasted kind of like pure crunch berries.

I actually lowered my cereal intake to near zero since I have that whole Asian lactose-intolerant thing. But I was shopping the other day and noticed a friggin' box of Total costs about $7 bucks now?!?! In college, I always ate the bagged imitation cereals from Quaker or that other brand.

Top 5 cereals

1. Peanut Butter Cap'n Crunch
2. Grape nuts
3. Shredded wheat.
4. Frosted shredded wheat.
5. Plain old oatmeat with milk and a wee bit'a sugar.

This isn't a fav, but old poor-ass grampa used to make it for me when I was a kid. We live in the projects of Biloxi, Mississippi (Tha 'Hood was so full of black people that the Klu Klux Klan stopped by for a visit and torched a cross a few hundred feet down from the apartments, but that's another story) .
We were so poor, I never knew boxed cereal existed. Didn't discover this till I was 10 when my friends mom took us to the Piggly Wiggly (neighborhood Super Market) for the first time.
As for gramps old recipe.

White bread (torn into bits) with milk and sugar. Can you believe that???? I used to love it though. Didn't know any better.

Now there ya go. Ice cream with ceral, any kine ice cream, any kine cereal. Best in the hot summertime. Da bomb.

How come nobody like LIFE? Even Mikey likes it. I especially like it when it gets all soggy.

As far as chocolate in the cereal, just squirt on some of that Hershey's Syrup. Yummmm.

And don't forget that Animal House, no - Revenge of the Nerds? breakfast - cornflakes and a beer. Yeah, right.

I wonder if the dude actually was thinkin' about gettin Buckwheat from the Little Rascals on there instead, and the tattoo man made a little mistake?

I suppose it could be worse. ANd it's better than "MOM." Or like in that commercial for a bank or whatever, and the tatoo has some dude's name on there instead of his chick's name on there. Too funny.

wasn't it popcorn and beer, in revenge of the nerds?
my favorite thing to do is take apple jacks, strawberry sorbet and milk and just mix it all up. yummy.
i read somewhere that they still make that booberry cereal, they just don't distribute it that widely because it's believed that kids are scared of blue food. (???!!!! what kids are they testing?!) i think you can still get it though if you write them. forgot if it's post or kellogg's or general mills...

Cinnamon Toast Crunch - So damn addictive i could eat a whole box in a sitting.

Cap'n Crunch - Daily routine when i was a kid. My grandpa used to put peanut butter on his and make his own damn peanut butter crunch. Weird.

Lucky Charms - I used to eat the cereal first, careful not to eat any marshmallows until the very end so i could get the full effect of super sugar fun.

Super Sugar Crisp (they changed the name to Golden Crisp or something like that) - The name says it all. And that frog dude was cool as shit. He always said, "Dig 'em"

Fruity Pebbles - Havin' breakfast with Fred is what its all about.

4. banana nut crunch - soggy too!
5. farina - ghetto!

do certain cereals have side effects on you?

for instance, for me, when i eat sugar smacks (puffed wheat laced w/ honey & sugar, etc.), afterwards my piss smells like smacks! that happen to you?

also, i can't eat too much cinammon toast crunch. it gives me diarrhea. i can't even try to fart or anything after i eat that shit, cos if i do, it's curtainz...

btw, i remember that qwisp shit. wasn't it like some wanna-be european brand (but american)? or am i thinking about that one that started w/ an H or something and had the 2 dots over a vowel... helix or something.

don't you hate when you eat cereal & you jack the roof of your mouth? honey comb is good at doing that. chew w/ caution.

word of advice: don't leave grape nuts chillin in a bowl of milk for days. trying to clean those barnacles off is no joke.

when did you learn your lesson that water cannot double as milk?

remember ET cereal? it was pretty much like what reece's cereal's like now. but i think michael jackson was on the box too, for some reason.

when i was little, my mom bought cheerios from this store drugstore around the way. i ended up eating a bowl as soon as we got home. turned out that the cereal was mad expired... like over a year or something. we dug inside it and there were like dried up abandoned bug cacoons in that shit! i was pissed! i wanted to sue, but what do little kids know about sueing. seems to work on TV.

another story about my mom: she used to store our cereal in the dish washer. she never used that shit, so might as well stores stuff in there. it was cool, cos i could reach the cereal when i was little. it's kinda like the dolorian of cereal storage.

bananas + certain cereal = good

anyone remember messy marvin (aka the dirtbike kid)?

peace.

Basic 4. Liked triples back when they made it (kinda like rice crispies but 3 different types). Always had to eat a moderately sweet cereal (frosted flakes) mixed with normal cereal (cornflakes) when I was a kid. Now I buy whatever I want, fun to get a super sugary one, but I can't eat the whole box before I get bored and want something different. And those little one serving boxes are crap, always like 2 in the case you hate.

i used to be obsessed with the smurfs like back when i was in 6th grade or so. anyways, my family went on a trip to yellowstone and i remember montana having a cache of 4 month old smurfberry crunch and i was all happy and shit. that cereal was garbage though, i was just geeked on smurfs for some reason.

anyways, my grandpa used to do some OG JA farmboy shit. steam rice with condensed milk. i kinda got into it for a minute.

BWAHAHAHA!!!! Smurfberry crunch! That's some real ole' timey goodness.

i'm kind of surprised that there aren't more people giving props to life cereal. i prefer to eat mine straight out of the box, sans milk. it gets soggy too fast with milk.

I love it and almost picked up a box the other day. Cinnamon or regular is great! :)

i'm all about the regular flavor. it's hard for me to get over my chinese prejudice that cinnamon does not belong in sweet things.

and i also like how, if you're eating life cereal, you are still barely grasping onto the pretense that you are eating healthy.

yeah i eat it in small bowlfuls because i like when the cereal is still slightly crunchy and the sugar hasn't been totally absorbed by the milk....it's a fine line!

"free stuff(toys)" inside the cereal or exchange from UPC used to be cool. Now it's stupid CD's & DVD's.

I tried some Multi-Grain Cheerios yesterday. I liked them very much, lightly sweetened. I think they remind me of Kix by taste. I think it's Kix.

does anyone else remember CROONCHY STARS from the late 80s?

it was cinnamon star shaped puff cereal and the muppet's swedish chef was its mascot.

i loved that cereal, but i think they discontinued it after a year.
still my fave from my childhood.

I'd always use regular saltine crackers, crush 'em in a bowl, dust with sugar and pour on the milk. As a little kid, I always thought of Ritz crackers as "fancy crackers." Plus the saltines in the sugary milk (had a tasty to me anyway) contrast.
