does anyone have this yet? i think it just came out this week. downloaded the song off of the matador web site and i must say... if i heard his single "point" while high i'd prolly think it was the greatest song ever. but its pretty damn good.

yeah, my girlfriend sent this to me like 3 months ago when it came out in Japan......it is a mighty fine album. It's just good to see that he's not trying to rehash the "Fantasma" sound again.
Speaking of Cornelius, have any of you ever seen those special Fantasma CD's that come with the fancy headphones? I've seen those used in Japan and was wondering why they were never released in the US?

yellokitty...if you want a big ass grin while high, any Cornelius song from any album will get you there...
I really dug the point album…every time I hear something new from him ill be amazed by his clever arrangements...
...I hope he tours soon…I know I missed out on the last one w/ the flaming lips...but at least I got to see the reverb show on hbo...(still looking for someone that has a copy of that show...)
mech1...I never saw that fantasma headphone release...
but I saw pics of his custom portable record player and spoon and gshock watches...
most of his cool stuff are imports...
...I wish I had all those gizmos...
well at least matador hooks us up w/ domestic cds and 150 gram vinyl...

Peep the small article in the current issue of Nylon Magazine.
Not exactly an Interview, but if you're into Cornelius, pick it up.

There's also a long interview cum review in the last Beikoku Ongaku (#19). The author says it's the best cd he's ever heard.

I finally picked this up on Friday night. I love it!
I was surprised at the amount of rockin' it does, though. Very nice.

I had a copy of the MP3's, but as I didnt write on the CD I lost it in a pile of other stuff. However, I just found it so I gave it a listen. I loved the cover version of Brazil, reminded me of macintosh text to speech.

yeah, I've already got a few of the remixes off of CM2, too bad it's not getting a domestic release in the US. I'm curious to check out the PM remix album though, should be interesting.

He`s playing bass recently, including a sorta super one with Ryuchi Sakamoto, the girl from Buffalo Daughter and buncha jazz people, maybe, I forget. Saw them at the Apple Store a few months back--line all day, round the fucking block in Ginza. Maybe it`s another dude from YMO also/too...the one who is a sketch comic.
The other time I saw `im was down at an SOI (some Thai/Japanese arts consortium) event down in Yokohama with a buncha Thai bands, them and this dude the local hipster are all hard-up about, Winsit Ponmit (which GR should cover if they haven`t yet), who does multimedia art and plays silent piano movie shit along at gigs.

Keigo`s old bandmate from FG, the dude who disappeared to NY--his dad`s a real nice guy, a children`s book writer and has a fuckin`one of those research centers from my old hometown, in Noborito. Went to a teach-in with him down the street from my current home (Ichigaya), had lunch together and shot the shit about Germany--cos we both have mutual friends.

anyone heard his latest album called "Sensuous"? so far it's falls short of my expectations. considering it took him 5 yrs to release the album there are only a few memorable songs. I emailed Matador and they said they weren't releasing the album in the US - I guess I see why.

The album was released last month in Japan, and he`s done every gig you can think of--in stores, anyways. Did Apple Store, both HMV and Tower in Shibuya.
His tour this Winter will be pretty good, though, he puts on a decent gig.

after 10 straight nights of gigs, saw "Sensuous Things" on the Buffalo Daughter all nighter....fucking "Nissenenmondai", also on before ST went on Kahimi Karie DJ`d. How much more direct target market can I take?!?! Magoo played in the basement-basement, but wasn`t so great. Daikanayama Unit.

in case anyone's interested, Sensuous is getting released in the US on April 24th via Everloving Records (http://www.everloving.com/web/index.php)...he's doing a small US tour too.

Saw him last week at Liquid Room. Fucking smug cunt, as always, but brilliant. The instruments he brings out, and the entire rhythm section`s untouchable. They had like three openers which sucked balls.
Saw The Rapture a couple times, they`re in town.

Oh yah, one of the true "artistes" left from the Bathing Ape generation, if you`d ever seen him around or caught a show you knew the little guy embodies the very best in musical innovation...although you didn`t like every single one of his LPs (69/96 is cheesy and bad, with its hip hop stylings) at least he made the records oblivious of others.
Smug cunt, don`t get me wrong, I obvously volunteer myself to see the gigs, nobody puts a gun to my head. It`s not just him, the grandeur and the myriad of instruments onstage...the posturing. Then there`s their fans, endlessly devoted and more than happy to cue up dilligently and purchase every single magazine, ticket, merchandise and shameless "collaboration" he`d done since burrowing himself out of the ashes of the Shimokita scene in the late 80s/early 90s.

But having said that, being a hater is exclusively a trait of someone West Coast. The more I think about it, he`s just some Otaku that got lucky and cool...but let Kahimi Karie get away.

Yeah, I actually knew very little about Cornelius' live show going into it, so it was an especially nice surprise that it was so awesome.
