I totally slept on this flick when it came out. Rented it last night; it's a fookin' riot! Willem Dafoe rocks out in th' best role ever, and th' general ethnic spoofery is great. Anyone else seen this?

I thought the it was pretty cool. Near the end it turned to shit. I thought it was gonna go somewhere but it didn't. It just ended.

wow... I never realized this didnt make it to theaters. when I rented it a couple years ago, I just figured it was one of the many films that didnt get shown in theaters here. I just ordered the DVD a couple weeks ago. I hope it gets here soon.

There's actually a documentary about the director Duffy called "Overnight" that I really want to see.
A friend saw it at a festival and said Troy Duffy was a complete kook and was amazed that he even got to make a movie considering how crazy he was...

Overnight (2003)
Directed by
Mark Brian Smith
Plot Outline: A documentary on the rise and stumble of Troy Duffy, the bartender-cum-filmmaker who was swept up by Miramax's Harvey Weinstein to turn his script for The Boondock Saints into a feature film.
IMDB actually lists a sequel in production for Boondock Saints - "All Saints Day".

this damn movie had been sticking out at me everytime I went to Best buy for some reason. At 9.99 I wondered if it was any good. I finally saw it at blockbuster and rented it.
I definitely liked Dafoe's character hella funny. The story was cheesy but a good watch. definitely worth picking up to have with a $10 price tag.

Yeah, this feature documentary is in theatres now. From watching the trailer (http://www.apple.com/trailers/independent/overnight.html), Troy Duffy does come off a a bit of a nutter....
......and shepherds we shall be,
for thee, my lord, for thee.
power hath descended forth from thy hand,
that our feet may swiftly carry out thy command.
and we shall flow a river forth to thee.
and teeming with souls shall it ever be.
in nomini patri, et fili, et spiritu sancti.

by far one of the best boston movies ever made. despite the bulk of it being filmed in vancouver.
i don't have very high hopes for the sequel now that the original's become such a cult classic (ie, whitehats love this movie now too) but who knows........

From IMDB.com
Boondock II: All Saints Day
(NB - spoiler if you haven't seen Boondock Saints!)
.

.
.
The story starts with a bit more in depth on the court house scene which ended the last film. As soon as they blow Yakavetta away, it is revealed that the MacManus father and sons have been hiding out deep in the glens and valleys of Ireland for three years. Connor and Murphy are quite content with this "natural" life and their pasts begin to seem faded and worn. But soon they recieve a "sign" and are called back into action as a pastor is murdered in a Boston church and the crime scene is staged to make it look like the work of the Saints.

How can any body fail to love a film where the boys get started on their misson from god by killing a dude with a toilet bowl?
Is there a funnier way to rob some one of their ability to breath in and out? i think not

after watching "overnight", i dont think ive ever hated anyone more in the history of the world than troy duffy. he is a concieted jackoff, balls sucking, dick licking, asshole prick. and nothing made me happier than seeing his career go down in flames.
someone should piss and shit in his mouth.

Yeah, I was "Overnight" a couple of months ago. That dude knew how to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. It's just too bad his brother and other people had to go down in flames with him.

I need this on Blu-Ray. Bumping cuz the sequel should be out this year as well.
I can't take El Duce seriously.
Billy Conolly is not a cigar chomping gun slinging psychotic... It just doesn't fit!

This movie tried too hard to be Tarantino-esque. It just didn't sit well with me when upon initial viewing. I'm amazed that it has a cult following, actually.

All Saints Day red band trailer up.

i don't have sound, but i bet that god damned dropkick murphys "shipping up to boston" song is somewhere in there. or some form of dropkick murphys. which is always a little too much.
it's funny because this movie came out 10 years ago, and both those dudes got horribly flabby. the original was enjoyable, but i shudder at what the theaters are gonna look like around here when this film drops. and i'm sure it'll sell out in the boston area for months after it disappears from every other city, and knuckleheads in scally caps and baggy adidas pants will be lining up to give this dude money. i'll wait for the dvd or something. maybe.

I've met so many people who loved the first one. They have bad taste.
I hope the female Willem Dafoe has a giant discman too.
