Rocket is playing with Holly Golightly of Thee Headcoatees fame (and the first song off RFTC) at Spaceland on Friday. That will be huge. I must get in.

i'm not a huge fan of rftc but they are really awesome live. the international noise conspiracy is playing with them so i think i might go. any inc fans here? refused?

yeah i might go to see that show... i heard international noise conspiracy was good, so i might go. maybe i'll see you (hellomay) there?

yeah, the more i think about it, the more i want to see them. i haven't seen them live before but i know they're really good. look for me at the show--i'm korean and i have short black hair. that's a pretty generic description but there are so few asian people at those shows, i'll stand out.
hellomay
04-11-2001, 08:57 AM
i'll be rocking the yellow pumas.

playing message tag is fun... heh... i'm taiwanese with spiky yellow hair... should stand out but i met this guy with the same style the other day and it was really weird... some girl was like "hey you guys have the same hair" and we were just like "uh, whats up"... it was like meeting another version of yourself. very weird.
hellomay
04-11-2001, 09:04 AM
i know what you mean. there's this korean chick at my school who's into kinda the same stuff and sometimes when i go to shows, people come up to me and they're like, "you're janet lee, right?" it's really weird. we don't really look like each other but we're both asian and go to the same school and coincidentally, we both put on shows on our campus. when i pass by her, she looks at me like she wants to say, "NO! i want to be the only asian chick with cool interests on this campus!" haha.
Actually the only album I like is Scream Dracula Scream but i AM going to see them in 2 weeks at the metro in chicago

Let me know how International Noise Conspiracy is. I've heard good things about them, but I think it's weird that they are ex-Doughnuts. If they're good, I would probably want to go to the show, but I've seen RFTC before, so I wouldn't go just for them...

jc2000!
shit i just went to look for scream dracula scream on cd since i only have it on vinyl and i want to load it onto my ipod, and the damn cd was $25. what the hell? it wasn't the interscope release, and it wasn't even on swami (why is this?). it was on some label called elemental.
Willie D
08-16-2004, 09:06 AM
The interscope releases have been out of print for a while. They're just sitting on the rights to SDS and RFTC. The band sold a cd version of SDS on their website for a while but I think stopped/ ran out. There were also 2 japanese versions that each had a half of Hot Charity on them which up until last year was the only way to HC on cd.
I only play a cdr of SDS these days and keep my worn out original in da vault.
BTW- Rocket needs to get cracking on a new album, ya heard?
golivar
08-16-2004, 07:25 PM
i just won SDS on ebay. not bad - 8$ for the interscope cd.
these guys are literally the only band i can be bothered to go see live. i think they're coming to ny in oct.

On Halloween night in San Diego, Rocket from the Crypt will be playing our farewell
show. After 16 years of scars and ear damage all in the name of spreading goodwill
and the Rock N Roll doctrine, we will take the stage for the last time on our
favorite day of the year. We know that it is very difficult for those around the
world to be with us for this celebration, but we invite all that have been a part of
this awesome ride to come out one more time and give it up for the band. We will
offer those that have supported and fueled us the first opportunity to purchase
tickets. The show is taking place in a hotel ballroom and room packages will be
offered with the tickets if you desire. There is a limited number of these
discounted room/ticket packages available. There will be five ticket options. 1.
Ticket only, 2. Room with 1 ticket, 3. Room with 2 tickets, 4. Room with 3 tickets,
5. Room with 4 tickets. The show is unfortunately 21 and up only as there will be
rampant live!
r-defying consumption. The rest of the info is below.

hammerjacks! wow there's a name from the past.
it really really sucks that they're breaking up, but in a way i'm not surprised. doesn't seem like they've been playing out much (or at least they haven't been back east in a while - i think). i'm going to miss them. a truly legendary band. i remember catching a secret show at coney island high, it was unbelievable. definitely one of the top 3 shows i've ever been to (with another one being jehu at maxwells!).

Missed the last Hot Snakes show and will probably miss this one, too. Just bad timing... But I shouldn't be greedy when it comes to Jehu/RFTC/Hot Snakes. I've seen them plenty of times at the Casbah, Jabberjaw, etc.

oh my god...
something close to a -sweat and jagermeister fuelled- decade+ long joy-fest in my life is coming to a close and i can't even bear witness to it's passing.
i'm fully down with bands just being bands, but with guitar wolf and r.f.t.c. in the same YEAR????
we're doomed to My Che***al Rom**ce.
where's the TESTOSTERONE?????????????????????????
still... 2 of the greatest rock and roll bands i'll ever see on my own soil... 2 of the greatest bands Ever, and that e is capital...
all flippant music banter aside, my love and prayers to all of you in this horrible, horrible year.
like that helps anything...

That sucks. If this news had come a few years ago I would have been crushed. However, I increasingly got the impression Speedo didn't really give a shit about Rocket anymore and was damn sure the rest of the band had moved on in order to pay rent. Oh well.
Long live RFTC!

In order to get the DVD of the last Rocket From The Crypt show into the hands of those who want to relive that semi-glorious night almost in time for Halloween, we have fast forwarded through the finishing touches and are making available a limited run of DVD's only available through the SWAMI site. DVD's are available to pre-order now! We are only making enough to fill immediate orders, so if you need this now, order it now.
Early next year (Feb/March), SWAMI will make available a more elaborately packaged DVD with improved sound (the limited run uses rough mixes), a bonus CD consisting of solely the audio from the show and improved editing and possibly different menus.
We wanted to get something out for Halloween so we rushed things a bit and scaled down the package. The limited run available for pre-order now is one disc with minimal graphic presentation. The DVD features the entire performance and introduction montage and clocks in at 2 hours.
The DVD was made (filmed, directed and editied) by Fourth Project.
Pre orders will by accepted on the SW@MI Merch site on Oct. 10th. The limited run DVD's will be $22. A price for the next year's official DVD won't be determined until it's release.
