ryan, help me out if this has been posted before....
ok, so i've been sitting here, 1am, by myself in my room, fixed to my seat mostly because of 1)curiosity and 2)partially frozen with fear. i don't know why i'm watching this damn show. it's funny to watch people get freaked out, but it's fucking scary too!!!
do you guys think this stuff is real or maybe kinda real or completely phony? and would you go on the show if given the opportunity to win some quick cash?
personally, i'm a super pussy. i cry when ghost stories are told and won't go to bonfires or camping because i don't like the night time and tree combo. you couldn't pay me enough to go and do the shit those kids do, even if it was just to last a few hours.
the one on tonight was a re-run w/the blonde dummy girl who had to hold onto two wires and electrocute herself for 5 seconds, which was fucked up and super funny cuz afterward she was all "i hope there's nothing like, physically wrong with me. i have piercings on my body and stuff." classic.
anyway, any thoughts?

for 50,000 bucks i'd do most of the stuff they do.. like lying in a bed of snakes or bugs.. eat ox testicles, brain, bugs..
but usually they have some physically challenging things that I don't think i'm capable of doing..
im a horrible swimmer.. i could barely float in place for over 3 seconds

the blond girl from hollywood, holly(i think) was hella funny.
at least in the case of mtv's 'fear,' everything seems to be in the mind of the contestants. the dark, the loneliness, and the background stories weigh down their imagination.
i think the background stories could be actually based on events. i wish mtv showed more than the people screaming, and running down hallways.
there's too many sound effects to really be able to hear what's going on, and the only images that are shown when something 'paranormal' happens are poor.
i wouldn't put it past mtv, to add sound and visual effects.
fear factor is a whole 'nother story. aside from the 'mental' challenges, like eating things, sitting in crap, you can have all the confidence in the world, but may not be able to perform some of the stunts. sometimes they're designed to be a bit more adventageous towards certain body types. not much you can do when a stunt benefits someone tall, and you're short, or strength when you're weak, speed, when you're slow, etc.

no one was able to finish the cow uterus tonight.
they're supposed to be having the strip tease 'stunt' coming up soon. do you think that bothers people more than having to eat something unpleasant?

I watch this show for the same reason I watch "ElimiDate": I like watching vapid, vain & thoroughly uninteresting fucks debase themselves. Doesn't matter if it's $50,000 or a stupid date. This crap reads like a Visa ad:
"Filming someone eat some godawful shit: $50,000
Filming some chicks in a knock-down, drag-out slutfest: A date
Watching this and realizing that, while you don't have 50 grand or a brain-dead blonde girlfriend, you still have your fucking dignity: Priceless"

And yeah, this is coming from the guy who bitched about Fox's "Celebrity Boxing". Just so you know, the irony is not lost on me.....

This is my problem with Fear too. It seems like if there is something actually making noise, we should be able to hear it. On Scariest Places on Earth, when doors slam and things fall, you know, because you hear it. This seems like a case of MTV stepping on their own toes, trying too hard to be "with it", but interfering with the show.
I did like the one though where the kids were on the ship and they had that infrared camera set up, and that weird knife-like streak appeared above the girl and no one would tell her.

the way they show things on 'scariest places on earth' creeps me out...but i'm always left wondering how much of that stuff is 'recreated.' if you want either the beginning or ending of the show they have a disclaimer stating that some scenes were recreated. they're always capturing some pretty creepy things on camera. did you see the episode where they went down into the morgue of an abandoned mental asylum and there was a shadow of a person in the background?
man...they should do stuff like get umm...like elton john on and do something absurd like "o.k elton..you have to butter your own toast or wipe your own ass" and then watch him cave..." ehmm.. o.k. um... WAAAAAAHHHH!!!! I CAN'T...I BLOODY WELL CAN'T! OH FUCK OFF!!!" that would be funny.....

"Below is a few photos from an on-going investigation that we had planned far prior to 'Fear's' appearance which we had no knowledge of. Much to our dismay THIS installment of the show was a joke. From the fake blood on the floor (which is still sticky as of Halloween night) to the fake spider webs draped on thin wires in one of the tunnels. The tunnel shown is a made of solid construction which makes the vibrations of that extent shown impossible to occur unless you have a vibrating device on the camera or a town leveling earthquake. Signs of their appearance are still present, a few drops of fake blood still adorn the floor in the morgue and decorative effects to make this place more eerie for the television audience. It was shameful. We are still jaws agape over the seance nonsense and the straight jacket presentation. It shows a total lack of respect for those who had suffered a mental affliction & cruel treatment here, not to mention a lack of respect for entities who have remained there. Much of the stories that circulate this location have been exagerrated. This place has held many including criminally insane and these people were treated with cruelty here. Though we have experienced a little phenomena here it is not the decorated monster it has been made out to be."

the only fear factors that keep my interests are the celebrity fear factor. it was fun to watch famous people embarrass themselves for charity.

so, i watched fear last night. mtv adds too much 'production value' into the presentation of the series. still hard to discern between which sounds are real, and which are not.
last night none of the contestants were able to stay and complete the dares.

i saw it last night and one of the challenges was to eat two balut eggs. all four contestants eat it.

i'm so glad that mother/son team won! did you see how when they thought they lost and the mother was crying the kid was like, "stop crying, it's not your fault!" aww, what a good kid. and there's always one annoying kid/parent team...good thing they didn't win.

there was an episode of fear factor couples last night. i think its a series because they continue later. not sure when.
anyways, it was kind of messed up. one couple got into an argument. they got censored but you know they said "shut the fuck up" to each other. it broke down because the guy mouthed off a lot and that got the currently winning couple to win AND to take their prize away.
how embarassing.
they looked part-asian too.
the fun continues on the next show.

NBC's 'Fear Factor' Sued for Rat-Eating Episode (http://www.reuters.com/newsArticle.jhtml?type=topNews&storyID=7258041)
"LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Watching contestants eat dead rats on NBC's gross-out stunt show "Fear Factor" so disgusted a Cleveland man that he has sued NBC for $2.5 million, saying he could not stomach what he saw.
In a handwritten four-page lawsuit filed in federal court in Cleveland on Tuesday, paralegal Austin Aitken said, "To have the individuals on the show eat (yes) and drink dead rats was crazy and from a viewer's point of view made me throw-up as well an [sic] another [sic] in the house at the same time."
His suit added, "NBC is sending the wrong message to its TV watchers that cash can make or have people do just about anything beyond reasoning [sic] and in most cases against their will."
He said the show caused his blood pressure to rise so high that he became dizzy and light-headed, and when he ran away to his room, he bumped his head into the doorway.
In a brief telephone interview with Reuters, Aitken said, "I am not at liberty to discuss the complaint unless it is a paid-interview situation."
A spokesman for "Fear Factor" said the show would have no comment until it sees a copy of the complaint. The spokesman said the program did feature a rat-eating scene in New York's Times Square on Nov. 8.
Over the years, contestants on the program have eaten some weird things, including ground-up spiders and live worms."
So who is this Aitken douche? I know it's hard to believe that someone who would submit a hand-written complaint (complete with spelling and grammatical errors) would be nothing more than a modern-day saint, but he's got a rap sheet:
"Aitken is well known in Cleveland criminal courts with an arrest record for extortion, theft, forgery and stolen property going back to 1974." (http://www.wkyc.com/news/news_fullstory.asp?id=28441)
Fuckin' douche....
