I recently got an insane album by this guy from Minneapolis (I think) who callss himself The Fog. It's like some weird blend of Kid Koala and Neil Young. It's totally lush. It's released on Ninja Tune here in the UK, but I have seen nothing about any reception it's had in the US... anyone heard it?

It got a great review on Pitchforkmedia.com, but I have not heard it myself.

yeah i heard one track from "transmissions radio" one monday night and thought it was pretty cool. they had this guy singing and the beat(what i think) was done live w/turntables. and then in the breakdown some dj skratches a tone that goes real well with the song.
real interesting...

I saw him live in London a couple of months back, it was really disappointing. Very little of the chaos of the records, and lots of over serious piano ballads, sung in a really piercing nerdy voice. I still love the records though.
Also it was no problem as we got to see Gravenhurst (the support act) so some of the most haunting solo acoustic singer-songwriter stuff I have ever seen.

I'm a fog fan. His name is Andrew Broder. He had to change his band name to 'Fog' bc j. mascis was about to get mad. i've seen him many times in mpls. sometimes the shows were fantastic, other times they were terrible. the last time i saw them, last summer, they were fantastic, and there were, i'd say, 5 or 6 people total on stage. there's a single out there somewhere called 'pneumonia'. it's a great song.

I'm sharing some remix stuff he did on Soulseek, it's pretty awesome. He takes on stuff like Nas and WuTang

diggin' this one back up, because you can check out clips of the new album at www.bleep.com i was talking with my girlfriend the other day about how there have been good albums so far this year (hood, patrick wolf, etc...) but nothing's that absolutely floored me in a while. i think this just might do the trick. i'm excited for this one.
