MR. PRESIDENT, I'M HEADED TO MEXICO

David M. Bresnahan
April 1, 2006
NewsWithViews.com

Dear President Bush:

I'm about to plan a little trip with my family and extended family, and I would like to ask you to assist me. I'm going to walk across the border from the U.S. into Mexico, and I need to make a few arrangements. I know you can help with this.

I plan to skip all the legal stuff like visas, passports, immigration
quotas and laws. I'm sure they handle those things the same way you do here.

So, would you mind telling your buddy, President Vicente Fox, that I'm on my way over? Please let him know that I will be expecting the following:

1. Free medical care for my entire family.

2. English-speaking government bureaucrats for all services I might need, whether I use them or not.

3. All government forms need to be printed in English.

4. I want my kids to be taught by English-speaking teachers.

5. Schools need to include classes on American culture and history.

6. I want my kids to see the American flag flying on the top of the flag pole at their school with the Mexican flag flying lower down.

7. Please plan to feed my kids at school for both breakfast and lunch.

8. I will need a local Mexican driver's license so I can get easy access to government services. 9. I do not plan to have any car insurance, and I won't make any effort to learn local traffic laws.

10. In case one of the Mexican police officers does not get the memo from Pres. Fox to leave me alone, please be sure that all police officers speak English.

11. I plan to fly the U.S. flag from my house top, put flag decals on my car, and have a gigantic celebration on July 4th. I do not want any complaints or negative comments from the locals.

12. I would also like to have a nice job without paying any taxes, and don't enforce any labor laws or tax laws.

13. Please tell all the people in the country to be extremely nice and never say a critical word about me, or about the strain I might place on the economy.

I know this is an easy request because you already do all these things for all the people who come to the U.S. from south of here. I am sure that Pres. Fox won't mind returning the favor if you ask him nicely.

However, if he gives you any trouble, just invite him to go quail
hunting with your V.P.

Thank you so much for your kind help.

Sincerely,

David M. Bresnahan

"Financial Innovation" is a thinly veiled euphemism for circumventing regulation. It's a word cited by people who are against regulation, but it's just a fancy word for "cheating" and "finding loopholes."

Great Britain and Ireland are islands. They're still considered European.

Pretty much every Japanese (and Japanese-American) person I've ever met has called themselves Asian.

Rugs and carpets are Oriental. A really sweet lady in a diner in Connecticut once referred to me as Oriental without malice, but she was really sweet about it so I didn't take offense.

This argument doesn't really hold alot of water.

The real argument: is Europe as a continent a cultural invention? Or is it really an appendage of Asia?

Traditionally.

During the political correctness movement after the 60s it has become a really controversial word in North America.

In the rest of the English-speaking world, I think they still use it for that old meaning.

The quarter-century of prosperity that the majority of Americans enjoyed after World War II was merely a result of the U.S. being the only economically dominant country on the planet at that time. And even back then, it wasn't so great for people who weren't white males.

With the passage of Taft-Hartley, the dreams of American organized labor were pretty much over before they began.

If the current social model continues the super wealthy will have Toyota Prius' and the rest of us will have horses.

They will have medical care and we will have Middle-Ages-like ditches.

They will have electricity (note the construction of private plants) and we will be happy with candles.

Although not a hand sign, the peace symbol itself needs to be examined.

"Known as the 'peace sign' throughout the 1960's and into the present day, this symbol is the Teutonic rune of death. 1950's peace advocate Gerald Holtom may have been commissioned by communist sympathiser Bertrand Russell to design a symbol to unite leftist peace marchers in 1958. It is clear that either Holtom or Russell deemed the Teutonic (Neronic) cross as the appropriate symbol for their cause.

Some years ago I filed 'debtor's prison' in the back of my head as one of the various harbingers of the fall of modren civilization (like it's all that impressive). I tried looking up things on this subject back in 2008, but found nothing. I forgot about it altogether until very recently. Today I found this:

http://www.nakedcapitalism.com/2010/06/jail-for-unpaid-debt-a-reality-in-six-states-strategic-default-pushback-watch.html

Putting these things together you end up with:

A.) Privatized prisons, privatized central banks (Federal Reserve is not in any way public, F.Y.I.), privatized utilities, privatized access to resources (look up what's happening to our water rights for the best insomnia-inducing experience you'll have all week), privatized cities (Michigan is currently contemplating that last one, which is funny since it would merely be a formal recognition of a condition that already exists)

B.) Those who own these institutions are also in or have personal ties to those in government - they're the regulators as well. They're supposed to slap their own wrists when they do something bad. This mechanism hasn't blossomed into full maturity yet, but all I see is this (http://www.youtube.com/v/teMlv3ripSM&NR=1) in real life with guns.

You'll still be able to see it with a telescope if you can find it.

I feel totally jaded for not caring much about this one. A couple months ago I realized that we could be obliterated by a gamma burst at any time with no warning. The chances of this are so miniscule that you need a bar over some digits, but still. We could go at any time. This object is going to miss us. We lucked out in the billiards game.

Statistically we'll be awiped out within a few hundred thousand years.

I a few million years the next great race will see the remains of a couple stone buildings that might've aligned to celestial events. That race will debate if the 'stone structures' were intentionally placed. All of our current data will be lost to degredation. They will have no idea that internet memes even existed.

Sometimes I wonder about those craters in Northern Europe. If ancient nuclear weapons really did exist. I doubt it, but I want that to be the case so bad. It'd be freaking awesome. The Vedas would be so much cooler.

I do know that most 9/11 Truther narratives don’t make sense. For example, how could workers rig up the World Trade Center for a controlled demolition—a months-long project that would require miles of cable, tens of thousands of pounds of explosives, hundreds of workers—without being noticed by the 50,000 people who worked there?

Remedial.

But I keep ditching.

They actually have this new way of doing math now. Well it's not new, but they;re teaching new students it and calling it new. My girlfriend's younger brother asked for help with his and this is sorta what it looked like.

They give this info:

Laura owns a Pet Shop. The shop only has room for 15 animals. If there were only cats and birds, what combination of animals is there if there are 32 animal legs? or some shit like that. I asked him how his teacher taught him to do this.

I expected something like c + b = 15;
c(2) + b(4) = 32

He said his teacher told him that to find this answer you do the following.

(2, 7)
(4, 6)
(6, 5)
(8, 4)
(10, 3)
(12, 2)

\ / 2 18 4
\4

/ 2 30 4

6 \ 2 32

\ 2 34

I don't really remember, but I'm certain you can figure something out right there. It made no sense to me and he didn't even get the answer right until I showed him the algebra.

the reason that teacher told your GF's brother to use combinations to figure out that problem is that students are not taught to solve simultaneous algebraic equations until much later, not sure when, but not at 14 (7th grade?)

It is controversial because why should these expert decide for each individual when is the appropriate time for him/her to take knowledge to the next level? Instead of matching the teaching to the ability of the individual, they make everybody learn the same thing at the same pace, aka, the factory conveyor belt model.

btw, the string of numbers you posted make no sense, unless you kindly explain what they represent.

8 cats have 32 legs. Replacing 1 cat with 2 birds kept the leg count unchanged. So the answer is 7 cats and 2 birds. All that derivation is unnecessary since the problem never stated that all the 15 rooms are occupied by 15 animals respectively. Arithmetic is as much about interpreting information as about calculations.

But of course the teacher will not accept that answer, because 'school math' is about conforming to group think, not really about developing critical and analytical minds.

The history of humankind goes only as far back as AD 800, there is almost no information about events between AD 800–1000, and most known historical events took place in AD 1000–1500.

If you say that aloud in a public place someone will yell at you.

In a way it's kind of humorous.

It makes a kind of creepy sense though. I wish I could read Russian.

I met this Russian chick recently who was telling me about something that I was interested in.

Within her description of a particular book was, "But it's only in Russian."

As for the creepy sense.

I often feel that we live in a Twilight Zone / Philip K. Dick type world.

Hi, Iago.

No really, though - that thought strikes me every couple months.

You can't have peaks without valleys. You can't have beauty without mediocrity.

There's a theory that's been floated before that a few of the centuries in the Dark Ages were fabricated and we're really living in the 1700's. It doesn't take into account evidence from Islamic and Chinese calendars, however.

The war on drugs (http://youtu.be/yK8blci7JrQ) is manufactured and an integral part of the economy.

This is due to CIA (arm of elites),
Wall Street (arm of bankers),
Media participation (propaganda / legitimization / face of elites)
and what seems to be a desire (fear),
on the part of the self-appointed rulers (elites - the ones not on T.V.),
to hold back consciousness experiences that are generally beneficial
(beneficial in that you see how retarded conventional wisdom is).

I was thinking the same thing. I don't agree with prohibition, but other developed countries also have tough drugs (yet have lower drug incarceration rates).

I a strange way I kind of look forward to when we drop the sham of 'civilization' and go directly into a formally acknowleged fascist state.

We're already in a soft fascist state so I don't see the big deal in just calling it like it is.

No, not at all.

You should be just as excited.

Pay your taxes. Buy your petrol. Do as you're told. The elites know better than you.

Sit back, enjoy your T.V. and don't worry your pretty little head over any of this.

It's all under control.

Your comment would imply that I like Republicans.

They're as big a minion as any Democrat.

I reject both on the grounds that one minion is not any better than another if they're both minions.

So, no I don't think your comment is true given that I don't like voting Republican.

Fair enough.

You're saying that all Republicans are bad and all Democrats are good.

Which is identical in form to all Republicans are good and all Democrats are bad.

Which is partisanship. Which I reject.

If you believe all Democrats are good that's fine. Knock yourself out.

I don't understand how this has anything to do with the Republican party.

Republicans are minions.

Why would anyone be more inclined to vote for a minion based on what I have to say?
