^ try switching to soy protein? I have the same problem with my whey protein shakes.

I am trying to gain weight because I lost a bunch in unpleasant circumstances and I am currently associating fat with having enough to eat. As I type that out it strikes me that it is a slightly weird thing to do.

whey protein works for me. but protein drinks made from egg and/or milk proteins gives me gas.

don't ever buy weight gain powder. it's junk. lots of sugars and inferior protein sources. make your own weight gain drink..

first find a protein powder that doesn't upset your stomach. then go out and get a tub of maltodextrin. it's a powder form of carbs made from corn. you can find it at any Max Muscle store. some specialty grocery stores carry it too. just add a couple scoops to your protein drink in a blender. drink once or twice a day between meals.

i've worked out a lot more in the last four months and discovered a gain of six pounds. part liquid part muscle? not sure but i don't mind it really.

eat lots of small meals with decent protein content. workout. don't do too much cardio. get a lot of rest.

I don't seem to have a problem with protein giving me gas... maybe your stomach's just not used to it. Be careful with Soy protein, too much will increase estrogen levels, whey as casein is the best.


As for gainer formulas, most do have maltodexteren(sp)... which isn't that good because it's just sugar. I've been told that depending on how much you consume and how much you workout all these sugar carbs might be burned up for energy before being stored for fat. But it's probably better to look for a shake with whole grain carbs instead of sugar. I've switched to just reg protein shakes and trying to get most nutrients from whole foods.

6 lbs in 4 months, damn I wish I put it on like that.

Hey slackerbot, what sort of gainers are you looking at that DON'T use malto? That's like the number 1 ingredient in the most common gainers I find.


As for making your own, for a while I was mixing oats and coconut with my protein drinks.

Oh my god you guys are hard core. I'm just eating a lot of lasagna and sitting on a beach chair in my living room because I'm too lazy to find parking at the beach.

maltodextrin is a type of corn starch. i think you're thinking of dextrose, which is a type of sugar.
