HEY HO!

Anyhoo... What she's doing is known as kipping pull-ups - using momentum to get herself above the bar, as opposed to (almost) pure strength with strict pull-ups. There's some controversy with kipping, some camps claim it's a legit pull-up and others say otherwise; personally I don't think they are. And some state kipping is a quick route to shoulder injury.

it's just a different type of exercise. people don't criticize jumping jacks or situps because they aren't dead hang pullups.

yeah, i really feel it in the triceps. it's basically a yoga low cobra motion.

when i move my hand out wider i invariably injure something in my back. not sure what that's about.

Here's a question for the remaining bots still trolling this thread:

Do y'all think it worthwhile to pursue a fitness certification?

In my case I'm considering the StrongFirst Kettlebell (formerly known as RKC) Level 1 cert but am unsure if chasing this is worth the money. Not cuz I think it isn't a valid cert to have - unlike many on the market - but I'm not a personal trainer who requires such a credential to further my career; not to say I don't help/coach people I know, I just don't do it for money. But I gotta say, the challenge of it is what piques my interest.

sure. do it for the challenge. i think that's why i started doing 5K and 10K races. running started to get kinda boring for me. so i figure i'd try something different.

just do it yourself. why pay to do something you can do on your own?

that being said, I'd love to be a personal trainer that incorporates both nutrition and exercise and have the certifications for both.
