this thread is about to become "the images of war thread"... unless someone feels that a new thread is a good idea.

"The Americans viewed the fighting as an insurrection, not a war. Hence, Americans refer to this episode asthe Philippine Insurrection, not the Philippine-American War. The Spanish-American conflict that lasted only three months, is referred to as the Spanish-American War. But the Philippine-American conflict officially lasted three years and is known only as the Philippine Insurrection by America. Actually the fighting between American and the remaining armed groups of Filipinos, whom Americans branded as “bandits,” lasted 16 years (1899-1914). "

this is from an MDC 7" record, it involves the contra revolutionaries trained and armed under the regan administration by U.S. CIA opperativesand the havoc they brought to el salvador in overthrowing an unfavorable leadership (though he was tyranical he also refused to provide us w/ oil)
THIS IS A REAL VIOLENT IMAGE THAT YOU PROBABLY DON'T WANT TO LOOK AT, BUT THAT'S REALITY FOR YOU

Caption of this photograph reads: A woman raped by an entire platoon
and then murdered, acid poured on her face to reveal death's hideous skull. Photgraph taken by Rene of Casa El Salvador.

lol... remembers of some of the pinay chicks in high school... didn't know shit about the philippine-american war (or the philippine insurrection, as my teacher referred to it) and the atrocities committed by the japanese imperial army on the pilipino people during wwii... but they went around saying "pinay pride" and "asian pride." don't get me wrong-- i still think they're cool girls... but sometimes, they really made me want to hide and pretend i didn't know them.
