Japanese Birthday Present

i need some help here ...

first off: the facts ...
(1) i live in japan
(2) my sisters' birthday (twins) is coming up.
(3) they're my little sisters ... they're turning 16 ...

so ... my question is:
"what should i get these two? something uniquely japanese, but something that they'll use or like or be happy to get."

it's hard for me to figure this out. i find shopping for myself in japan easy. but i'm not 15 (turning 16), and i'm not a girl.

any suggestions? time's running out ... !

agree with the makeup thing... go for some brands that aren't available here, like majolica majorca, inoui id, testimo, jill stuart, maquillage, etc. ask the sales assistant what their popular palettes are and i'm sure any of them would be perfect. or how about a cute purse/tote bag?

Matthew Barney can help. See the first 20 minutes of Drawing Restraint 9 and you'll be set.

cool, glad i could help. i believe majolica majorca is fairly cheap (shiseido's drugstore brand), so you can get a bunch of stuff (get some neutral eyeshadows if you want to be safe, lipglosses are always nice) without breaking the bank.

yeah -- what's up with this second generation of tamagochi thing? when kids have access to seemingly way cooler ds and psp games etc., and tamagochi died out for a good reason, why are they hooking back on it!?

... it's not even old enough to get nostalgia points, like the 80s or 70s or something. since when has anything else from what, '98?, been in style?

hi tin tin!
I want a doraemon bento box, can you hook that up? Maybe you'll find a bento that your sisters might like ... But I think the makeup idea is the best one in the thread.
It might help if you posted pictures of your sisters. ^__^

ps. I think tamagotchis still have some potential to be fun. Are they wireless now? what's the new featureset?

what's your budget here? how much do you like your sisters? are they artsy? punky? jocks? cheerleaders? i'm only asking because, though i think make-up is a great idea, it's pretty safe. i'd say that it should be your back-up if you don't have anything else or just can't be bothered to put more effort into the presents.

one of my sisters is sort of artsy ... the other one is really plain and boring, in my eyes. the plain and boring one -- the one that likes guys like, taking advantage of her and being a retarded ditz -- would probably most like makeup.
but the cooler one? the artsier one? what do i get her ... ?
