We will set up game stations both indoors and outdoors and in person will be Shelby Cinca and Beau Blyth. Also playable with be Cinca and Sean Chao’s Yeren board game and Beau Blyth and Jeni Yang’s Catburger.

Satoshi – The Last Salaryman

Figure Exhibition by Yukinori Dehara

Reception: Saturday, June 30, 2012 – 6:30-10pm

Artist Talk & Clay Modeling Workshop

Sunday, July 1, 2012 3-5pm

The Salaryman in Japan, is an underpaid and understated workforce who work long hours and have forged a lifestyle that is strongly responsible for the economic miracle of post World War 2 Japan. Today they wander the streets after their long day, drinking and frolicking until they head home to their family, only to face the same thing the following day. Satoshi is this person but has a friend, a beast named Morlin.

We’ll be sure to feature clay sculptures and more from Yukinori Dehara. We’ve featured Japanese artist, Yukinori Dehara annually and his exhibitions range from being touching to grotesque. Yet like most artists, he has a deep ideology behind his pieces although to the casual observer, they look like fun. More info.

THE NEW CAR – MITSUBISHI MiEV 112MPGe

By ERIC NAKAMURA

Here’s what I’ll be driving. It’s a Mitsubishi MiEV, the MPGe has an “e” which means “equivalent”. I’ll be seeing how it’ll ride and feel. I already know, like a Prius, it starts silently. The car has “eco” written all over it. Want a ride? >>

GR INTERVIEW: JIM A OF TOY BOARDERS

By ERIC NAKAMURA

Jim A: “I am a graphic designer & an old school skateboarder, my son AJ he skates all the time. He helped me design the final designs  & got me up to date on the moves that they should be doing. Hence I named ‘em after my son AJ – AJ’s Original Toy Boarders. The original sculpts are just a tad larger than the final product – this way you can get a little more detailed.” >>

E3 AND THE STATE OF THINGS

By GIANT ROBOT NEWS

Robert Bruce: “The first thoughts I had after roaming the floors of E3, were toward the bafflingly huge booths dedicated to social gaming and mobile gaming companies. These companies must be making a fairly sizable profit to be able to afford the large swathe of floor space on the E3 floor. The other thing I noticed was how small the big game prod companies booths were in comparison to years before.” >>
