The holiday celebration continues on Saturday, December 15 with more excitement for the entire family. Enjoy participating in a hands-on art workshop from 2 PM to 4 PM with artists Albert Reyes and Saelee Oh from JANM’s Giant Robot Biennale 3. A special holiday photo opportunity with Japanese American Santa is available from 11 AM to 2 PM, and a special book signing from noon to 2 PM with acclaimed author and Usagi Yojimbo artist, Stan Sakai (signing for books only). Events on Saturday, December 15 are free with Museum admission.

A film about Albert Reyes by Brian Miller.

‘Reyes of El Sereno’ is the first in a series of short films Brian Miller is making about the folkart of backyard haunts, winding path ”mazes”, and DIY haunted houses. The first installment focuses on local artist Albert Reyes and the elaborate haunted house he has been working on in his backyard for over a decade. This video portrait takes the viewer on a trip to Albert’s hometown, his work studio, and of course through the haunted house itself.

Time Lapse of the mural and installation by Saelee Oh and Deth P Sun. Saelee Oh’s work took days and days, Deth P Sun, 11 hours. Both are amazing to see in person. Music by Goh Nakamura.

The banner is getting installed, but after finding a few snags in the print out, it’s all getting redone. Damn. So close, but not close enough. It’s a good looking wall.
