When I was there, Goto Store on Kenmare Street had a display of old school video games. The dudes there do Swishnyc clothing. And although it's tiny, it's a cool spot to check out. The mix of the coolest old-school video games will bring anyone into the shop. It's a flashback when you see a Merlin, a Vectrex, a Mattel football, and the like. One of the people who runs the Goto Store is Tony, a Chinatown NYC native and new friend.

Alife is off the beaten path on Orchard, and is just above the shops that sell bad baseball caps and jerseys. It's nested in what's going to soon be a trendy area. This is the nicest store in New York. It's roomy, has an unparalleled graffiti tag wall of fame, and homemade stuffed animals everywhere. The products are cleanly displayed. Not since Japan, have I seen a place that matched pop culture, clothing, knickknacks, shoes, and more in such a manner. One of the guys behind the store is Jest, a graffiti artist who befriended me while I was standing in the doorway waiting for the rain to rush down. He's somewhat of an old-schooler (what's that now anyway?), and we talked about his shop, the uprising of kids doing good work, and his love for New York. Storms come and go fast and so do nice folk like Jest when you're traveling.
