Giant Robot Store and GR2 News

Discover Nikkei site. I wrote a few sentences, and it grew and grew, so now it’s an article up there. I wrote about working on the show and how it happened, etc. Yes, the site has the Miami Dolphins colors, but there’s a redesign in the works. Take a look at the article.

Led by a crafty Saelee Oh, JANM hosted the Giant Robot craft table at the annual Oshogatsu celebration, which is basically a new year's program for kids. Tons of them came, and on the table were craft parts, mostly Saelee's scraps. I took a ton of pics with her camera, so you won't see her in my shots which came later, when she decided to hide. Tons of them came, and on the table were craft parts, mostly Saelee’s scraps. I took a ton of pics with her camera, so you won’t see her in my shots which came later, when she decided to hide. But you can see how it all went. She signed tons of autographs, took a bunch of pics, which I hope we’ll see one day, and overall, I’d give it a thumbs up. If you came early, it was free and you could have seen Murakami for free too. One of the benefits of coming to JANM this day. I dunno what this is, but it’s weird. That’s my Saelee bootleg card. This is OG Saelee Why is Saelee Taboo? What does this mean? Is it “a sweet taboo” as Sade would say, or is it something else? The tape font led itself to the word taboo… what do you think it means? I swear it seemed almost like a date. Did they know each other well? Either way, making crafts on a date, smart. Point for dude. At least I hope it was his idea. Sit closer next time. Foot in my mouth if they’re cousins or something. kids and adults had fun making cards.

Baseman is a joker. Wherever he is, he'll tell jokes. A lot of them. I met with MOCA folks, Gary Baseman, Tim Biskup, and Simone Legno in downtown this evening. I think that threw everyone off into a what the fuck is going on again?...

The idea was to lay the groundwork for the panel and live painting evening of Pervasive Persuasion, an event in 2008. It’s going to also feature Oguri, a butoh dancer. I think that threw everyone off into a what the fuck is going on again? mode. Oguri is going to do a slow butoh move during the event. Strange for sure, and people are going to trip out hard. Butoh is a weird modern dance “thing.” Simone said the first thing he did when he landed in LA the first time from his native Italy was to go to Giant Robot. That’s quite an honor. Literally from LAX to GR. I responded with figuring out the trick the car game he had on his site from years ago that got me the first place spot that stood for ages. Tim and Gary get into lively art discussions. These two are like water and oil when it comes to art. “I disagree” is often said by Baseman. I learned a lot about these two, and a little tiny bit about the importance of art. Tim chows down on a shrimp udon. This shot catches him in mid-shrimp at East restaurant. Denise and Raul chill and listen to Gary go at it. Jokes and all.
