Pekka has devoted her life to a little bamboo grove that she inherited from her grandmother, whom she loved very much. She takes some of the bamboo each year to keep the grove looking beautiful and healthy, using the bamboo to make fences, broom handles, chopsticks and more. She loves to tend the grove because she can see her grandmother there.
