It really could be a tiny bit out of context. Yes, Asian shops can be dirty, but so are plenty of others. Yet, he singled out Asians. That bastard. He also said: “A number of these restaurants serve high caloric food, bad food, et cetera, but the more important thing, they don’t participate in the community…That’s what I object to, I don’t care who it is.” (Politco – Marion) Doesn’t serving food and people showing up to eat it serve a community?

The DC Council Seat holder makes a comment: “We’ve got to do something about these Asians coming in, opening up businesses, those dirty shops. They ought to go, I’ll just say that right now, you know. But we need African-American businesspeople to be able to take their places, too.” Asian business are plenty dirty. As many say, the dirtier, the tastier. A clean one is suspect. Right? A cleaner shop is generally better, but Mr Barry, are African American shops cleaner? Is dirtier, tastier? Does it matter? It’s an “oops” by a guy who has had his share of making Oops. All we recall is his comment that went something like, “That Bitch, she set me up” (Washington Post – Marion B)
