  It may not look like much, but this is part of a Mongol ship that was discovered from an attempted attack. 36 feet of ship was found near Nagasaki in the Southern part of Japan. As mentioned in a previous post the rough waters of the Sea of Japan protected the country from attacks like these. Most ships ended up underwater. Mongolia was once a super power that attempted to take all of Asia. The article by the BBC mentions that their nautical skills weren’t up to par and ship building was done by “subjugated” Chinese and Koreans. Yes they were bad ass at the time. (BBC – Mongol)

Not the 90s band that you all love, but we’re talking about opinion swayers or spinners in China. When there’s a negative opinion on something that the government cares about, there are paid “spin doctors” who write something on the contrary, and then another, and hopefully another. 10,000 writers are supposedly employed, barely. They’re paid .50 a post to write something to help bend a public opinion. The net is huge in China, perhaps 50 Chinese cents per post all day can translate into some heavy yuan! Not really though, since 50 Chinese cents is 7 US cents. (bbcuk – spin doctors)

When you try to change your restaurant’s name, remember the little sign, too. Let’s say the Chinese restaurant you run is already a couple years old — too old for you to call it “NEW GREEN BO.” Let’s say you want to change it to “NICE GREEN BO,” just so your  regulars aren’t thrown off too much. If your sign is translucent and lit from the back, it’s probably worth it to properly fix your sign instead of pasting on “NICE” over it, because at night, your restaurant becomes “NIECWE GREEN BO.” Not that that’s a bad name.
