Saw this show at JANM. Ruth Asawa has a nice body of work. The wire baskets are amazing. I’m not sure if she has enough sense of depth in her work, as in where does it come from, why does she do it, etc… it’s as if, she just did it, people liked it, and that’s the end of the story. Which then brings up another point. Whether my assessment is true or not, does it really matter? Does it need to have a message, does it need to have a special history rather than a boring one?
