[nggallery id=28] FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – Group Art Show Opening Sean Chao and Ming Ong January 15 – February 2, 2011 Reception: Saturday, January 15, 6:30 – 10:00 p.m. GRSF 618 Shrader Street San Francisco, CA 94117 gr-sf.com 415-876-4773 Giant Robot is proud to host Forget Me Not, a group art show featuring new works by Los Angeles artists Sean Chao and Ming Ong. Sean Chao sculpts, paints, and delicately constructs a world filled with curiosity and amusement, creatures and animals. The mixed-media pieces capture odd moments frozen in time that hint at narrative and create an imaginary history in which beings of all kinds explore the wonders of their environment together. Ming Ong is an artist and graphic designer whose artwork reflects her international upbringing and inclusive worldview. Her paintings often depict children and animals in disquieting situations, juxtaposing bright colors and nostalgic children’s book illustration with dark subject matter and serious themes. Giant Robot was born as a Los Angeles-based magazine about Asian, Asian-American, and new hybrid culture in 1994, but has evolved into a full-service pop culture provider with shops and galleries in Los Angeles and San Francisco, as well as an online equivalent. An opening reception will take place on 6:30 – 10:00 on Saturday, January 15.
