The Giant Robot 2 (GR2) remodel happening at the beginning of January will transform the location into a larger gallery, creating MORE wall space and utilizing all of the existing walls. We’re shrinking the retail capacity of GR2 and focusing in on the art that we’ve loved sharing with the world there! We’ll begin with a large print show, “Printed Matter 10″ as we’ve done in the past at GR2, GRNY and GRSF. We’ve had numerous installments of of “Printed Matter” and this is the 10th.Participants include:

Another team-up between ever-dependable Banana Yoshimoto and the always popular Yoshitomo Nara. As usual, the former’s quirky novella is illustrated by the latter’s unique drawings and photographs. Stored in a shimmering slipcase.
Colorful tote bag from Blissen designed by our buddy Souther Salazar. This particular one is Red Jazz and features all sorts of characters playing instruments.
Imagine a cross between American Splendor and Alice in Wonderland… or imagine a cross between Carl Barks and Carlos Castaneda… This is the story of two old friends who are reunited for one night and wander together through a surreal, vaguely apocalyptic landscape.
Just released by Maywa Denki, the creators of the popular Knockman series, the electronic Otamatone is now available travel-size! This musical keychain allows you to play along with eleven different songs in order to make music!
Those who frequent GR2, noticed a huge difference, those who don’t, just walked in as if this is how it’s always been. It took a little over a week and the new GR2 is done. This isn’t the grand re-opening, we’re saving that for after the tweaks and so forth.
