Giant Robot Store and GR2 News

Featured on Google as the unofficial Hayao Miyazaki fan club president?! Martin Hsu… the title, the man, the artist, our friend. No, he’s not really a president just yet, but this is great to see. His art is already something you should know about, but the rest? Google dug him out and pushed him forward. Now a bay area resident, Martin Hsu is no stranger to fun things. We caught up with him at the Little Tokyo Design Week capsule below, and witnessed him doing some crazy Step during the DJ set. He’ll be showing at GR2 quite soon, October! It’s happened to us too years ago. Yes, someone wanted to buy art online, they send money to Western Union which is close by for an obscene amount of money saying that the extra, we’d just send them (or something like that). Something was wrong right off the bat and a buyer wanting a great quantity of art and sending money on the fly, was all wrong. Don’t rush into a sale. I know, as an artist, as a sale is golden. One of the most consistent artists in the world is Deth P. Sun. He’s not a Steve Keene painting multiples of the same like a robot, he’s still working on individual pieces that make up a world that’s though provoking, cute, and sometimes mysterious. Why is that cat holding a knife? It echoes Yoshitomo Nara’s works that have young children doing the same. There’s ghosts, Death, and even scenery including the stars. The audience ranges from the first time art buyer to the collectors. We’ll be offering the works to the public online at 12 noon PST on tuesday Aug 30th. The link is here! We’ll post again when it’s live!
