Giles Li makes a video that’s based on Yao Ming retiring and what it could mean to the man himself. It’s a poem, but more of a spoken word piece and addresses the man, not the myth, or the legend, or whatever everyone else wanted him to be.

We’re not sure if anyone reads the petition site and says, “hmm, I think I’m going to change the name of this park.” However in this case, it’s a fine idea. Betty Ong park, a place where she played, learned, grew up, and perhaps ultimately made her the courageous person she was. Yes, she was a cool airplane attendant aboard one of the planes that hit the World Trade Center buildings. She’s been crowned a hero, so why not name a friggin park after her in San Francisco where she was born. That sounds easy and a great tribute on the opposite coast of NYC. Might as well do it now. Daniel Choi will re-enlist into the US Army. It’s a known fact there are gays in the military as there are in the NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, or the NRA. There was an act called the Don’t Act Don’t Tell which booted gays from the military. It was repealed and now the activist, West Point grad will be back in uniform. Perhaps one day, no one will care either way, and a person who wants into military will be just that. (Politco – Daniel Choi)

Pointing out what watches Chinese officials wear. He’d find photos online and talk about the wristbands of the rich. At times, they’re Rolexes that cost many times their monthly salaries. Then in another photo, they’re wearing yet another high priced time piece. You might be thinking bootleg, which is entirely possible since in China you can find anything made faux, so it was put as “appears of be wearing.” Yet he was shut down. In great Chinese proverbial fashion, Wu mentions, “No matter how high you jump, you can’t escape the Buddha’s hand.” (ft – censored watch blogger)

In the time of glabal expansion and riches, the one thing that strokes a nations ego more than anything else? Getting into space. The US and Russia pushed each other to reach the stars by putting animals, then a human, and then a man on the moon. Then Mars, then photos from far beyond. Yet in the end, all of this research costs. As NASA winds itself down and yields to the billionaires who are monetizing space, China is now entering the race as a distant third place. The Tiangong 1, or Heavenly Palace will be their space station. It’s unmanned, but yet another space step for them.
