Uniqlo Terry Richardson shirts! (file photo) Uniqlo is going to ramp up their launches! 200-300 new stores a year? In case you don’t know, Uniqlo is a household clothing brand in Japan, much like Old Navy. It’s clothing is low in price but also has the designs people seem to like. It’s utilitarian but at the same time, made fashionable. They also produce graphic t shirts which at $15 are inexpensive and well made. There is a flagship store in NYC and two more scheduled to open in October. They plan their expansion to hit mostly in China and Korea, yet this article does make mention of major cities in the US in order to become the largest clothing retailer in the world. This isn’t a 9/11 blog, but since it just passed and it’s been a decade, this write up about TSA being ineffective is a long time coming. But who will listen? The things quoted and mentioned are serious problems but will anything get done soon? Yes, they haven’t caught a single threat, they haven’t caught a clue, they miss most test bombs, and they steal and even grope. The funniest mention is by Chairman of the House Transportation Committee John Mica, “Everything they have done has been reactive. They take shoes off because of [shoe-bomber] Richard Reid, passengers are patted down because of the diaper bomber, and you can’t pack liquids because the British uncovered a plot using liquids.” How much money is going their way and how many employees did they hire just to show force without substance? Too much and too many. Yet, will anything change soon? (humanevents – tsa)

How is Michele Bachman taken seriously? Yes, let’s return to the days where only non people of color could become citizens. It’s also funny seeing the George Takei as Sulu posted with this article. No Sulu wouldn’t be allowed to be a citizen, yet, Hikaru Sulu could easily fence his way in and out before and after The Asian Exclusion Act by using the Transporter. Wait, if she had her way, we wouldn’t be here either. (thinkprogress – Michele Bachmann)

Sion Sono is dark and hope hardly exists in any of his films. Himizu looks to be more of the same, as he uses the tsunami as a backdrop. Yet he does mention that he shouldn’t make a film without hope. How rare! He scores the Marcello Mastroianni Award at the Venice Film Festival. Asian filmmakers and actresses score as well. Cai Shangjun Best Director, Deanne Ip Best Actress… (WSJ – Venice)

9/11 video flash back. Sort of. If you can watch through this entire video, you’ll be pissed. John O’Neill knew what was upcoming but instead bureaucracy, not enough kiss ass, and working too hard seemed to do him in, and ultimately gave way to the 9/11 disaster. I recall after 9/11 there were agents in various groups who felt something was coming soon, but were afraid to say something for the same reasons that did John O’Neill in. It was in the news. I’m sure the FBI is back to it’s old ass kissing game at everyone’s expense and safety. Watch the full episode. See more FRONTLINE.
