Giant Robot Store and GR2 News

Hey Wayne! I met Wayne Wang and we hit it off like old friends. Why? Maybe because he’s read GR, and been to the stores in SF, and in LA. Or maybe he’s just a good guy. Most people probably have no idea who he is walking on the street. But he’s Wayne Frickin Wang and he made Chan is Missing, the prototypical Asian American film. These photos are backwards, the last is first. I did about 6 interviews tonite, no water breaks, and my throat is shot… but each were pretty decent. It went straight from maybe 9 something to almost 1 am. Some, I didn’t even know the person or their work, and still pulled of decent work. I think I’m at least okay at this on camera interview work. Myleen the great on live.yahoo.com. She’s a little faded looking. Brian and Lisa who can write themselves in or out of anything. Chi-hui the man who can pump all the water of the gorges when he’s mad. You wouldn’t like him when he’s mad. PCP’s art Wicked Wayne showing how he’ll crush your skull. Matrix with Dan the thrilla zilla Daniel WuWear Virgin America does it again. I wonder who chats with who on this thing. Did you know you can chat with people in other seats?

Tomorrow I'll be at the SFIAAFF. Yes, the film fest in SF, which is always fun and always out of control. I don't make it there every year, but when it comes around, it's a good time. I was a judge last year, and this year, I’ll be handling some live interviews for thedirectorschairsite.com I hope I do a fine job, and if you see me around, say hello. I’ll be at the Asian Art Museum for the reception on opening night tomorrow and on saturday at the outdoor plaza from 1-9pm. I think the plaza is near the Miyako hotel and such in Japan town. Come by and say hello. Meanwhile, check out the podcasts. Again, they’re all here. The film fest site is here.

Two podcasts. I almost want to say emissions instead to match this CD cover. I forgot how fun podcasts are to make and actually listen to. I'm not saying that I love the sound of my own voice, but reliving the issue of the magazine and remembering the things that maybe didn't make it in, or aren't evident when reading the mag, makes these fun.

I’m not saying that I love the sound of my own voice, but reliving the issue of the magazine and remembering the things that maybe didn’t make it in, or aren’t evident when reading the mag, makes these fun. The issue 50 podcast starts with Cuckold’s, I Love My Shigacorn starring Jason Shiga. I swear, I’m getting back on the podcast game. The more obsessive I get with the editing, the longer it takes to get done, so these are fairly loose. We’re slowly working on more. Watch for 52, 48, and 49 up soon. We also talk about David Choe and the Giant Robot Biennale. Issue 51 podcast is fun as well, and I think we even forget to talk about the cover story by feric. We do get to talk about the Martin’s tour with Boris and Damon and Naomi, a lot about the Imprint conference including John Jay, jeffstaple, Danny Choo, Brian Lam (Gizmodo), Rob Heppler (weekly drop), Bobby Hundreds, and then finally we talk about Lance Hahn from J Church, rip.
