Giant Robot Store and GR2 News
Podcast link here Lisa Ling began her career at Channel One News, a news program broadcast to junior high and high school students across America. She then changed careers and joined the cast of daytime TV talk show, The View. Soon after, she went back into hard journalism and hosted National Geographic Explorer and now, on the Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN) she hosts an hour long news show, Our America. Ling has travelled around the world reporting from the front lines of wars, went undercover in North Korea and reported on drug lords. Our America focuses on interesting stories on Americans ranging from Sex Offenders to Nuns. Some stories reveal a darker underbelly and some are stories about people finding happiness. We talk about some of the inner workings of her new show, now it’s in third season, and the changes in her career. Ling resides in Santa Monica, California, and I visited her new eco-home shared with her husband, Paul Song. The podcast began and stopped a couple of times from a visit from Ling’s mother, sister Laura and her new baby. Lisa Ling is a pop culture fan and a long time supporter of Giant Robot.

Yoshitomo Nara supposedly released this image for people to print out in protest of the reactor restart. Download yours here. Nara posted on his Twitter account that basically says the image appeared in his Slash with a Knife book. OK to scan it and print it, just don’t sell it. We’re no sure if this particular file was done by him, but it’s obviously a higher res scan probably from his book.

Here’s a list of 7 questions I answered for Sassytidbits.com! Thanks much. Where are you? West Los Angeles If, starting today, you could only listen to one record/cd/digital album for six months, what would it be? Easy, it’s My Bloody Valentine – Loveless. What is your ultimate couch (burn out/hangover) day entertainment? I don’t drink at all but I’d play Modern Warfare. Although it sounds crude, it’s a great lesson in teamwork and a look into the habits and mentality of people, if you choose to play that way. You can just blast away mindlessly if you want as well. I don’t. What kind of art do you live with? Too much to show on my walls, but I have art everywhere. It’s not important that it hangs on a wall honestly; I get as much joy seeing it in a flat file drawer. It’s still art and it’s still appreciated and cared for. The rest is at Sassytidbits.com!

From Janet Liang today: “With that said I’d like to announce that I have found a 9/10 donor match from a 29- year old male. I could not have done this without you all. We are also going to look at the cord blood registry for matches and choose our options. Now I’m off to do my spinal tap to make sure it’s not lurking in my noggins.” Janet also has good news about her Leukemia which went from 82% to 2% in her body. If you’re in the dark as to what I’m posting about. Read our previous post that explains a bit more. That’s her on the right, next to Jane Lui and Tamlyn Tomita at GR.
