Giant Robot Store and GR2 News

This roundup of shows begins in San Diego, where I spent a long weekend for Comic-Con. Sorry, no partying with Dethklok or Andrew WK, but there happened to be a couple of rad shows at one my favorite venues of all time: The Casbah. Of course, there was Vivian Girls (above) but first came The Mattson 2 (below). A perfect way to cap off Comic-Con’s preview night.

Ichiro now a Yankee. He’s 38, should be able to produce. “When I spent time during the All-Star break to think, I realized that this team has many players in their early 20s,” Ichiro said through a translator. “I began to think I should not be on this team next year. I also started to feel a desire to be in an atmosphere that I could have a different kind of stimulation than I have right now.” (ESPN – Ichiro to Yanks)

A Zine from back in the day. Psycho Moto. Ethan Minsker sent me this video. It’s a cool, short one that talks about zines, then it explains his involvement in zines and then he shows you his own work. I told Ethan that I remember his zine, and he was pleasantly surprised. This title was reviewed in Giant Robot perhaps a few times. Take a look at his video and if you want, peruse his zine digitally. (Antagonism – Psycho Moto)     Fanzine from Ethan H. Minsker on Vimeo.
