Giant Robot Store and GR2 News
It’s awesome that Jeremy Lin is on the NY Knicks, but… from the first Asian American in the NBA to the most recent, you’d think Lin would contact him back! This is a story you almost don’t want to hear, but might as well know about. From ESPN: “Misaka said he hasn’t met Lin yet, but he once tried to get in contact with him. When Lin was signed by the Warriors in 2010, after going undrafted and playing well in the Las Vegas summer league, Misaka wrote him a congratulatory letter to wish him good luck. “He didn’t know me, but I thought that he might have heard about me and maybe would get a little encouragement from words from me,” Misaka said. “I’m wishing that he gets some playing time and gets some fans out there excited about a local boy kind of making good.” Misaka never heard back from Lin, but he would like to add one more word of encouragement: “Ganbare.”” A meeting or photo op will happen one day especially after the ESPN mention. Wat Misaka keeps it classy regardless. (ESPN – Misaka)

A green car pulls up with a driver sporting a big green. It’s a Mazda 2 in “Kermit Green” as the driver called it, but it’s actually called “Spirited Green” and stands out like none other. When I heard I was getting a test car, I pictured black, silver or maybe red, but it’s a metallic green! I’ll apologize in advance since there’s a lot of you out there who need a functioning car like this. I actually already have one, but I’m getting the opportunity to drive this Mazda 2 for a spell so I can tell you what I think. I’ll update the mini adventures of where this car will take me. So far, the response by everyone who has seen or heard about this vehicle, is the two words, “Zoom Zoom”. It’s manual so it has a bit of pep. I haven’t driven a stick shift in years but my skills haven’t diminished. Of course the first voyage was to La Isla Bonita taco truck in Venice. It’s safe to report that eating tacos in a car that can play mp3s off an iPhone is quite nice. This car only has 3000 miles. I hope I can put another 1000 on it.

Roland Kelts expands on the Japanese situation of no love or sex wanted. Japanese men are getting hit hard, but not hard and hitting. First it was shut ins, Japanese guys don’t want to go outside, then it’s not wanting a girlfriend, and now it’s no sex, or virtual sex only. It’s sort of a round up of an article. We’ve reported bits and pieces of it. Yet, men, c’mon! (Guardian UK – Sexless)

Trains are an amazing technology. China just tested a train that broke the 300mph barrier. Pictured below is the new train that is said to go up to 310 mph. Earlier this year, a bullet train accident occurred killing 40 and injuring 200. It’s definitely no surprise that big train crash in China earlier this year gets blamed on mostly a jailed guy and a dead guy. There was a lightning strike supposedly that caused problems, but why the quick cover up? The clean up happened near instantly and it has taken nearly a year to get word out as to who to blame. Truly, it’s of no consequence as who get the blame, but in the end, an accident like this happens as it does everywhere else. It’s just minimizing them. (Atlantic – China Train)
